Serious question: Do you have an author that you honestly know before you even begin to read that it’s gonna hit right? Also, if you do, do you just read their stories and move along without reviewing sometimes because you’ve been singing their praises for like 84 years and you’ve run out of words? Well, I do and it’s Melissa Foster. Seriously guys, I just don’t know what to say other than just go do the thing anymore!
Anywho, I forgot to put words to this ARC read so here I am …
You know what I like about well written “vacation fling to forever” stories? They make the concept of “the one” very realistic in a short period of time. What I mean to say is that because a vacation fling allows two people to basically spend “every moment” together, they get to know each other quickly, thus eliminating the “normal” getting to know each other well enough to know they are “the one”, time period of months and months. I like realistic fiction a lot, so this little plot point really makes me happy and Melissa delivered perfectly! Sure, the “lines” also helped but mostly it was the close proximity with no other “people” interrupting. Make sense? It does to me and I felt it in this story, and it made me invest in Fitz and Jennifer a lot quicker than I’d normally invest.
I also liked how “different” Fitz and Jennifer were because I like the friction that “opposites attract” add to a romance journey. It’s inherently fun and flirty and super sexy in my opinion. I also really liked how Melissa wrote the process of Jennifer deciding about the baby. It was heartfelt and very realistic, and I felt it deeply emotional. This is one of those decisions I believe to be one of toughest a woman ever has to make and Melissa made sure that it wasn’t written flippantly.
This is the part where I repeat myself like I have for “84 years” LOL … Melissa’s writing is a force to be reckoned with and her stories and genuine and from the heart and the reader feels them deeply. Okay, this reader does and I appreciate her tremendously for her skills!
