Rain or Shine is book one of the brand spanking new series; Ironside Ridge. This is a small town, fake dating, runaway bride, western MC romance. This is also considered a spin off of the series Twisted Kings MC, which I highly recommend reading first to get maximum enjoyment of this new world.
This story centers on Venom aka Shane and Harloe. Shane definitely has a hero complex. That man is basically fearless, or just has a death wish. He’s a good one though, loyal to the core. He’s great at being a team player AND being a leader; he’s smart, patient, and thoughtful. Shane’s dangerous yet he is such a green flag at the same time. His back story was sad but he came out to be such a good man considering.
Harloe was brave, sassy, stubborn and independent, but at the same time she was vulnerable and filled with fear when it came to certain aspects of her life. She wears her heart on her sleeve. I imagine she’s one of those people who can’t hide their facial expressions either, so you know exactly what she’s thinking.
When I thought the story was going to be predictable I was so so so wrong! There were some big plot twists I did not see coming. I don’t want to give anythjng away, but I got goosebumps when Shane made his final decision after meeting with Steel.
What an awesome start to book one in the series! There was a good mix of humor, angst, violence, spice, plot twists and more! It was an equal mix of MC biker and Western. If I’m understanding what Eva is putting down, I’m thinking that we may be getting a cowboy spinoff in the future, which I’d totally be down for. There were strong supporting characters that add good elements to the story. We get to know a little about everyone without taking away from the main characters or dragging out the story line.
I am excited to read what comes next in the series.

Have I mentioned how in love I am with this cover? Well, I am! It has a vibe that I really like. It is western and MC blended really well aesthetically, and I cannot wait to own a deluxe edition! Also, “Sons of Anarchy meets Yellowstone” could not be a more perfect tagline for this series! I have been a super fan of both shows for years and I can really see how it fits! It should be noted that Ironside Ridge is a spin-off of the Twisted Kings MC, so you know what I am going to tell you next … LOL! If you like an immersive experience in the worlds you are reading about, I would highly recommend that you read Twisted Kings asap. Before this book would be ideal, but you are not gonna listen to me so just at least put it on your list.
I am not sure I have ever been this surprised with an Eva story than I was with Rain or Shine. I like that the MC is not on the “outside” of the townspeople but rather just citizens. Feel me? I mean obviously they were not besties with them, but because they were starting from scratch and it was just a few members, the story did not give off an MC vibe as strongly. I liked it a lot for the beginning of what I hope is going to be a strong series.
Now, for those of you that have already read, raise your hand if you had Jackson on your Bingo card? Whaaaaa?! Well played and beautifully spun. That is about as far as I go plot wise but trust me when I tell you that this is not a straightforward story and it will keep you reading, hours way past your bedtime! And you will like it! LOL
There are a few things that stand out for me in this story. The bad guy you think is the bad guy is bad, but not the bad guy. To surprise a reader with that statement I feel is a feat all on its own and should be celebrated! The runaway bride that really just walked down the road was a fun way for a meet cute and the fake dating trope was used perfectly to the advantage of both MCs. It really fits their personality and the story’s vibe. I honestly liked just about everything about this story, so much that I would not mind one bit if they would hurry up and get this audiobook off and running! LOL Even if you are not “into” MC romances, I feel you will still like this story because it serves as a bridge from the Steel Kings to Iron Ridge and is not your typical MC romance. The rest of the series may be heavier on the MC element but who’s to know. I know I am already looking forward to anything that Eva has in store for us!
