I read this story back in November 2025 when it released and I really enjoyed it. I’ve actually enjoyed every story that JD Carothers has penned thus far. I think my favorite aspect of her stories is how there is always an element of suspense/mystery to the storyline, but it never overshadows the romance. If anything, it just adds another layer of depth to the characters and the storyline. Her characters are never one-dimensional, and the stories are always intriguing.
The journey of Sydney and Asher sped by in what felt like a minute! I enjoyed these two a lot. Getting to experience their individual agendas and their romance journey mesh together like a game of hide-n-seek made me smile more often than not. They’re both keeping secrets but we as the readers know more than they do as the characters and for me, it made the whole experience more captivating. I was invested thru and thru!
Having Emma Wilder & Benjamin Sands (which is a first for me and Benjamin) perform this story made it even better. I mean I knew the bones of the story since I’d read it about a year ago, but the details escaped me so doing this listening made everything come back and I think I may have enjoyed myself even more! LOL It’s a short listen/read so nothing is overly complicated or dramatic.
