Caleb Jennings knew driving the coastal highway at dusk was a terrible idea at the best of times, but it was even worse after enduring an awful dinner with his family. After something jumped out and caused him to wreck his truck and black out, Caleb woke to a coyote in his bed, and his entire life turned upside down. Especially when the coyote turned into the most gorgeous man he’d ever laid eyes on.
Local paramedic Tobias Walker never expected to find a mate, much less having to fake his mate’s death during what should have been a routine accident call during a full moon. Throw the werevirus into the mix, however, and his duty as the medic of the Redwood Pack required him to act. Now Tobias just needed to figure out how to break the news to Caleb that his entire life had changed.

Caleb died in a car accident and was reborn a werewolf. He’d been turned but didn’t know why. Didn’t really matter because being turned brought him Tobias, a coyote shifter. Tobias knew the werewolf he pulled out of the wreck had to die to preserve the safety of the pack. He didn’t expect the other man to be his mate.
I liked Caleb and Tobias. Their romance was quick but since they were mates it follows that their connection would be immediate. The shadowy Enclave seems like a good bad guy for the series. A little bit of new lore to digest.
This was a short story, barely long enough get the important particulars in place, but worth reading.
