🔥She falls for her Boss

I never meant to fall for my boss.
When I was hired to be Simon’s assistant, everyone warned me he was impossible—brilliant, demanding, and obsessed with control. But after surviving two months of his rules and grumpy attitude, I’ve learned how to manage my boss. Maybe it’s my chaotic upbringing or the fact that I desperately need this job, but I can’t ignore the moments when his guarded edges soften… even if he pretends they don’t.
Then one nervous slip in front of a major client turns into a fake relationship neither of us can back out of. Now I’m Simon’s “girlfriend,” attending dinners, traveling for meetings, and sharing far too much close proximity with the man I’m not supposed to want. Pretending to belong to him shouldn’t feel real—but it does. And the hardest part isn’t keeping up the lie. It’s realizing I’m falling for him for real.

Just a Little Tempted by Carly Phillips
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Simon is a huge grump, and a boss is difficult to please. He goes through assistants almost like he does his underwear. And when he fired his latest one, his good friends convinced him to hire his sister. He’s reluctant at first but when she starts, he sees just how much she good at what she does. If only she wasn’t gorgeous. Keeping his distance is becoming hard and when she wants to help him land a deal and says they’re dating, all bets are off. He wants her and he’ll do anything to make her his.
Raina is struggling. She’s been blacklisted by her old boss so when the role at Simon’s office is presented to her, she is more than qualified for the role. And spending time with Simon is not a bad way to spend the day. And when she tells a little white lie to help him, suddenly having her crush on the lock down, seems impossible. Especially with Simon wanting her just for himself.
But here’s the thing; Raina and Simon are actually perfect for each other. The only problem I have with this book is that she gave in to easily at the end. He was waaaay out of line and I get it, truly, but he should have done sooo much more before I gave him a time of day. But eventually I would forgive him because despite his jumping to conclusion, he did love her and that counts for something.

“So,” my brother Liam said as we crossed the parking lot toward our cars, a knowing glint entering his eyes, “how’s the new assistant working out?”
I kept my expression neutral. “She only just started this morning.”
“I know. Kurt’s sister, right?” He studied me with the kind of scrutiny only a sibling could manage. “I’m surprised you agreed to it. Hiring a friend’s family member seems like a recipe for complications, especially with your track record with assistants.”
I shot my brother a look, even though he wasn’t wrong. “It’s a ninety-day trial. We’ll see how she does.”
“That’s not an answer to my question.”
“It’s the only one you’re getting,” I said.
Liam laughed, shaking his head. “Come on. First impressions? Is she competent? Is she going to last longer than the parade of assistants you’ve burned through this year?”
Competent wasn’t the first word that came to mind when I thought about Raina Seager. Distracting was a closer descriptor. And very unexpected.
“She seems capable,” I said, keeping my tone even. “Time will tell if she can actually handle the workload.”
“High praise, coming from you.” Liam’s tone was dry. “Try not to scare this one off in the first week, yeah?”
The problem wasn’t scaring Raina off. The problem was the way my pulse had kicked up when she’d walked through my office door. The way I’d found myself cataloging details I had no business noticing—the exact shade of her blonde hair, the fullness of her lower lip, the way she’d bitten it when she was nervous.
Attraction would only lead to trouble. I knew that. I’d built my professional life on clean boundaries and compartmentalized thinking. Women I worked with were off-limits, full stop. I’d never even been tempted to blur those lines.
Until this morning with my new assistant.
