Penn, is a man who can’t feel pain. However, he certainly feels everything else. He’s deeply in love with Gideon. The twins, Olivia and Owen have taken over his heart. Protecting his man and family becomes his focus as a new danger looms. Gideon rules his world with an iron hand in a velvet glove. Not afraid to get his hands bloody, he fiercely protects what is his. Whether it’s extensive territory, political connections, or extended family, he is ruthless.
A lot going on here. So many threads coming together make it hard to review without spoilers. Personality wise…both men have matured into their relationship. Gideon is still extremely protective of Penn’s condition but also uses it to draw him in closer. Gideon uses his empathy to bring family and soldiers into his circle of protection without losing his leadership abilities. However…the twins and Rita rule the roost.
The bad guy doesn’t really have the impact of most of this author’s baddies. He seems to have more bluster than anything. But his ultimate end was pretty disturbing.
This was an interesting addition to the authors range of books.
