When You Stayed by Ashley Muñoz
Generations of Rose Ridge Book 1
Small Town MC Romance
Release: May 15, 2026

I was never meant to stay in Rose Ridge.

My father was the president of a notorious motorcycle club, so if something rattled him enough to request that I go, I should have listened.

In my defense, at the time, it seemed more terrifying to give up the only dream I ever had than to leave like everyone else.

I should have known that chasing that dream would lead back to the club, because everything in this town eventually did.

I wasn’t expecting to see a familiar face, glaring as usual, amidst the chaos surrounding the Stone Riders. For years, I had endured scowls, glares, and scoffs from Ford Ryan. However, there was something new and different about his heated stare, and even that oddly protective touch.

Something dangerous and addictive.

I should have left when I had the chance, because my proximity to Ford and the club meant I was close to danger. Even worse would be discovering exactly why Ford chose to stay when, out of all of us, he had every reason not to.

When You Stayed kicks off book one in the Generations of Rose Ridge series, following Ford Ryan and Royce Quinn in an enemies to lovers, MC‑ish romance. I say MC‑ish because the MC world is present, but it’s secondary to the characters and their relationship. For the best experience, I definitely recommend reading the first generation books first.

Ford is every bit as surly as he was as a kid, but this book finally shows why. His attitude was a shield, not a personality flaw. Underneath it, he’s loyal, hardworking, and constantly sacrificing his own happiness, even when it leaves him miserable.

Royce was hit or miss for me. I loved her boldness, her fire, her sass. But the constant crying wore on me, and her stubbornness crossed into unnecessary more than once.

This is a slow burn with a great blend of angst, drama, humor, family moments, and a touch of spice. Ford and Royce set the bar high for enemies to lovers. Their tension is palpable, and once they cross that line into lovers, their chemistry is explosive. But WOW…the communication issues. Their mutual stubborn streak cost them years of happiness simply because neither could manage a real conversation. That immaturity follows them through their lives and through this book.

Overall, this book was entertaining, enjoyable, and easy to fly through the pages. Seeing the next generation grown up, and their parents older, was bittersweet. The Easter eggs were everywhere, and now I’m impatiently waiting until we get the Silva boys’ books.
