It’s hard to believe that I just met Walker Rose’s exceptional writing skills a few months ago because I’m so utterly in love with her style and voice and I’m only 3 books in. Can you imagine the glitter bombing and shouting from rooftops I will be doing when I get the time to binge her backlist?! It’s gonna be epic … I feel it!
Lets do narration first! DUET performance by Marie Hawkins & Will Speare was ridic good! My first time listening to Marie and I already want to marry her! Seriously. And Will … Lawd, he was made to be a cowboy! That’s is all. Full stop! These two were so ridiculously natural that I fell into this story headfirst and I did not want to leave. They did that. They took the fun and flirty and the tension and emotion and elevated to new heights. There were big chunks of listening time that I found myself so absorbed in the story that I was staring at the ceiling just feeling! That doesn’t happen to me. I don’t just do nothing while I listen to an audiobook. 👏👏well done👏👏!!
Now, let’s chat about this story for a minute. Let’s begin with the meet-cute because, *heart-eyes* to infinity people! Very unique and one you will not soon forget! Then they build a friendship that is organic and genuine and realistically flows to more. Seriously, that’s the story, and it’s one of the best emotionally charged feel-good stories of its kind. The push/pull and tension between them was realistic and everything that happened made sense. Not a single plot-point was over dramatized, in my opinion, and because the possibility was there to make it so and Walker Rose didn’t go there, I have mad respect for her! Haven & Prescott come into each other’s lives holding a whole lot of “weight” and it was a thing of beauty to read/listen to their story unfold. They were natural from the start, meant for each other. Their story was fun and flirty between them and deeply emotional as well. Their friendship blossomed into more in a delicious slow-burn that was a perfect fit for them both. There is absolutely nothing not to love about this story!
