Nikola is book two in the series, Legacy of Heathens. This is a second generation, friends to lovers, forbidden, mafia romance. This book has dark themes and elements so read your trigger warnings. For maximum enjoyment I recommend reading the first generation of books.
Nikola is almost a spitting image of his uncle Sasha, not necessarily in looks, but in personality. He’s erratic, reckless, alpha, protective and possessive, especially when it comes to Skye. He will go to extreme measures to get what he wants. We see many sides to Nikola throughout the story. From childhood immaturity, to wild child, to his more reserved and vulnerable adult side that reminded me more of his father, Visili.
Skye was quite the heroin. That woman was tenacious when it came to Nikola and getting what she wanted from him. I liked that she was no quitter and wasn’t afraid to push his buttons. I really really loved how she blossomed into a bada$$ protector when it came Nikola. I would have liked to see a lot more of that! Everyone always treated Skye as fragile, but that woman was far from it.
This was a meaty book and contained all the things you expect from an Eva Winners book; violence, angst, plot twists, humor, spice, action, a happily ever after, and so much more. It was also fun to read about Sasha and Dante arguing and even competing about things. Pay attention to those Easter eggs regarding the supporting second generation characters, lots more Mafia drama to come.
