I absolutely love the dynamic between Kinley and Wyatt. From their first meeting to the HEA, everything about these two felt perfect. Wyatt is known for going after what he wants, and he wanted Kinley—both professionally and romantically. He was determined to keep the world at bay if it meant she was happy.
Kinley feels seen and safe in Wyatt’s arms. She has been hurt in the past, so getting involved with him seems like the wrong thing to do, but she can’t resist the charming devil, and honestly who would. When they finally give in, sparks fly, and soon feelings take hold that refuse to let go.
I liked Kinley, but I absolutely loved Wyatt. He knew what he wanted and wouldn’t let her give up on them, no matter what.

Wyatt and I gathered the plates, stacking them up.
“Thanks for doing this.”
“I told you, it wasn’t much effort.”
I swallowed hard, biting my lower lip. Obviously, I was making too much out of everything.
“Just the fact that you thought about doing it speaks volumes about you, Wyatt.”
“All good things, I hope.” The corner of his mouth rose slightly.
I nodded. “Very good things.”
He was close, and then he came closer still. His mouth was suddenly on mine, and it was completely electrifying. He ravaged me. There was no other way to put it. There was nothing hesitant or slow about this man’s kissing. He licked my lower lip, then pressed his mouth hard against mine. His tongue was doing delicious things to me.
I put one hand on his shoulder and the other on his back. Then I lost my head completely. While Wyatt’s hand moved from my waist farther down, I shamelessly felt him up too. His muscles were a delight. After I’d ogled them all week, this felt like a reward. I could touch them to my heart’s content. And I wasn’t holding back at all. Oh yeah, he was so hot.
Wyatt growled against my mouth. I only realized what was happening when he grabbed my hand.
“No.”
Shoot. I’d been about to take off his belt. What. The. Heck. I gasped, taking a step back.
“Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry. I wasn’t… I didn’t think.”
He stepped forward, still holding my hand tightly. “Don’t you apologize. I was going to lift you up onto that table.”
“Wyatt—”
He put his fingers across my lips. “Don’t say anything.”
I nodded and swallowed hard.
“This can stay here in the vineyard,” he added,
I opened my mouth, then shook my head. He just smiled.
“You don’t need to say anything.” He looked at my lips intently, then glanced away. “Sage will clear up everything here. Come on, let’s go back to the house.”
“Good idea.”
Except… was it really? It was hard enough to resist his charm out here. I didn’t imagine knowing he was just a few feet away, right next to my bedroom, would make things any better.

The more stories I read/listen by Layla Hagen, the more I want to add hours to my day so I can consume all the words I’ve missed in years past! Midnight Kisses was a huge #win for me and the narrating team of 🎤Connor Crais & Angelina Rocca🎤 was outstanding!
One of the things I look forward to the most when I pick up a Layla Hagen story is the cohesiveness of family groups and/or friendship groups she always layers into her stories. There’s always an uplifting comradery among the groups for the MCs and it always warms my heart. It adds a layer of warmth to the stories that I really enjoy. It’s a highlight in this story and I think it made the growth of the story much more poignant and heartfelt. This wasn’t just a romance journey but also a journey “from the ashes” growth for our FMC and I loved how the story unfolded and how incredibly proud I felt about everyone and everything! I honestly felt like I was part of “them” in this “world” while I experienced this story and it just made me happy. It’s the kind of story you sit down to read/listen and will find yourself hours later wondering where the time went! Because honestly, these are the kinds of stories I read romance fiction for, and I am one happy reader/listener because I did!
Another aspect of the story that I enjoyed immensely is the balance that Layla wrote into the storyline on all aspects. It wasn’t overly anything. No dramatics for drama’s sake, just the right amount of sexy and romance, the perfect addition to the world of the Sterling brothers and of course the growth of the characters. The storyline unfolded realistically and all the circumstances felt organic and true to life to me. The entire package was very enjoyable and as I already mentioned, a huge #win!
