Things I should never, under any circumstances ever do: ask my secret crush, aka. the most notorious (reformed) playboy in pro hockey, to take my virginity.

Too bad, I did.

After a string of terrible dates, I did the unthinkable. I propositioned Flip Madden.

Of course, he said no.
It isn’t that he’s almost a decade older than me and I’m still in university.
But because I’m his coach’s oldest daughter.

Not to mention my dad would bludgeon him with his hockey stick if he found out.
Which he won’t because it will never happen.
And now things are awkward because there’s no going back.

Except Flip is more protective than ever before and his eyes follow me in every room we’re in together. He brings flowers to my recitals and reads all the books I recommend.

Things I should never, under any circumstances ever do: hope Flip Madden might actually want me too.

🎧📚ARC & ALC REVIEW📚🎧

I’ve loved Helena’s writing for what seems like a lifetime now. It hasn’t always been a smooth ride for me, but I always come back to her whenever I feel some kind of way and no other author/book is doing it for me. I’ve also realized that when I loved one of her stories, my joy is boundless, and when I don’t, it’s heartbreaking. I’m never in the middle with her! It’s a good thing that she has, for the most part, brought me joy for a really long time.

Flip & Tally made me happy! Their story felt genuine to the circumstances that surrounded them. I feel like a good word to describe their relationship build and/or storyline is intimate. The slow-burn (of sorts) was exactly what was needed to showcase Flip’s growth and Tally’s needs. (read the book and you might just understand that better lol) And boy did Flip grow! His character growth from who he “was” in previous books to who he became to be the version that not only Tally deserved, but so did he, was outstanding and really stood out for me. I “felt” him even more once I listened to the audiobook just a few days ago. Their sexual chemistry as the story progressed also falls under “intimate” for me. It simmered and it sparked and was another aspect of this story exceptionally written. It showcased their “ages” and “experiences” really well and I just could not be prouder of a story!

Helena has always been inclusive in her “series” and I love how not just the Toronto men where part of the story but also the Badass Brigade ladies! Their friendships are strong and have always been showcased in that manor and it just added a bit of nostalgia for me. It makes me want to jump back and re-read all their stories.

This has been not just an outstanding story full of heart but a series as well. Before this series really took off, there were a few not so good for me stories that Helena had penned but she got her groove back quickly and I am just giddy having my Helena back! LOL

🎧The DUET narration by 🎤Lee Samuels & CJ Bloom🎤 captured this story better than I could have imagined! They both brought this story to life vividly in my head and did not mind one bit having them in my ears for 12(ish) hours! I’ve become somewhat of an audio junkie in the last couple of years, so thank you Dreamscape Media for providing this ALC for early listening! 💜

Tally is the coach’s daughter, and Flip is the former playboy who’s spent years cleaning up his act trying to be the man he can be proud off.

Tally’s crush has grown into something so much more over the years but Flip has always kept his feelings in check because… coach’s daughter and the biggest obstacle, their age-gap. When Tally’s life starts falling apart and the pressure becomes almost too much, Flip is there steady, protective, and always finding ways to take the stress away.

Watching their relationship shift from (kinda) friends to something more was incredibly satisfying even when i wanted to throw my Kindle into a wall a few times. Flip is sweet and fully there for Tally, and I loved that for her. Together they make a really cute couple.

If You Keep Me is book six, and the final book, in the Toronto Terror series. This is a hockey, friends‑to‑lovers, coach’s‑daughter, forbidden romance.

Flip and Tally’s story is an ultra slow burn with a lot of emotional development, a bit of humor, spice, and family drama. Some parts of their journey start to feel a little redundant, and while their friendship has always been strong, building a romantic relationship proves to be rocky.

Flip has the ultimate character growth in this series. When we first met him, he was a self‑destructing, selfish playboy. We finally dig into his background and understand why he behaved that way, and we see the outcome of all the work he’s put in to change throughout the series. Flip is actually very delicate and vulnerable beneath the bravado, and he becomes a swoony, sweet, attentive boyfriend to Tally.

Tally is an old soul, more mature than most people her age. She’s hardworking, supportive, and an all‑around good person. She does have a bad habit of taking on burdens that aren’t hers to carry. She gives 110% to everything she does, and you can see the toll that stress takes on her at times.

Throughout the series, I’ve loved the girl gang and their loyal camaraderie. The guys roasting and ribbing each other was always fun, too. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the Terror, but I imagine we’ll see some cameos from the crew in future series to come; hint, hint.
