This was … wow.
Connor Crais is not a new author in the romance genre but this is his first act as a solo writer and he nailed it! I’ve always found it difficult to pick out who wrote what when authors come together on a project. I’ve read/listened to all his other collaborations and super stoked that he has ventured on his own with this one because now I know Connor the author and he will never be one I miss!
This story grabbed me from the beginning. It’s one of those stories that you don’t really see coming even when it is happening. I found myself complete lost inside the story and powerless to stop listening for hours at a time. I just had to know what was coming next! The action and danger associated with the story kept me edgy and the romance was a delicious slow-burn I couldn’t get enough of.
Military romantic suspense stories have always interested me, and Connor penned a perfect blend of suspenseful tension and romantic tension. He wrote MCs that are both strong and capable but not so strong and capable that the need for each other to get through the journey was negligeable. In fact, there was no doubt that Walker and Naomi (our MCs) both needed each other to survive. The way that Connor developed the story and the characters was a thing of beauty, imo. I honestly cannot find fault in a single plot-point, and we all know how rare that is for me! LOL
🎧This was one of the best performances that I have had the pleasure of listening to by Connor Crais. He wrote the story, so obviously he knows the characters, but it was more than that. He’s a talented narrator for sure, but with this story, it was like a live action movie playing in my head. I felt the drama to my core and man; did I love that! As a listener, that’s what I’m looking for in a performance, first and foremost, and he just hit all the good spots for me! I know I’ll be listening to this story over again I the future!
If you enjoy romantic suspense stories that keep you on the edge flipping page after page or listening for hours on end, this is a story for you!
