Lexi
Falling for a famous hockey player? I would have laughed at you.
I was trapped in a marriage-caged with cruelty.
I wasn’t ever going to be free.
Until I found a way to escape.
Before him, I thought love was a nightmare.
Now I dared to dream.

Kirby
First time I met her I was drawn to her light.
Then I saw the fear in her eyes.
Fear I’ve seen before.
Our chance encounter turned into two.
If she ever needed me, I’d be there.
I never dared to want her.
But I lost my heart to her anyways.

🎧📚ARC/ALC Review📚🎧

There is a lot of greatness on the pages of this book, so much so that I am going to abstain from telling you anything at all about the story itself. I honestly feel like every circumstance, action and reaction in this book is important and giving away any detail will dimmish their power to future readers so I’m refraining. Experiencing this story with a blank slate is the best way to go. I will however tell you other things …

The level of respect that Natasha gave to the unimaginable circumstance(s) that Lexie found herself in deserves a round of applause. She didn’t tame it down or try to gloss over any of it, and because of that, the story held a level of emotion that is indescribable. My heart! The character growth for both Lexie and Kirby were legitimate and realistic. The story growth was organic and relatable (at least I feel like it was because I personally have never been Lexie, but I’ve lived 55 years now, so I know a thing or maybe three). The story is uplifting and hopeful and so full of heart that I almost couldn’t take it. In fact, it took me 3 days to listen/read this story because of it. I had to pause to absorb its realism and quite frankly, that’s what’s supposed to happen if you choose to write these circumstances in a story. So, 👏👏well done👏👏 Natasha!

🎧I listened to this story more than I read because the performance by 🎤Teddy Hamilton and 🎤 Stephanie Rose was incredibly addicting! Everything that I felt I’m pretty sure I felt tenfold because they captured these characters so perfectly and it made me feel this story even stronger! The story is powerful no matter which way to prefer to experience it, so go do the thing,k. :)

OMG, I love Kirby. I want to say so much about this book, but I also want to keep this spoiler‑free—so trust me when I say you need to pick this one up. I’ve been a huge fan of Natasha Madison for a few years now, and with every book, she gives me new characters to fall in love with. And wow… Kirby was the perfect book boyfriend. He even gave Lexi’s dad—my favorite man in the Natasha Madison world—Viktor, a real run for his money.

Now, onto the story. Lexi has been like a ghost for the past decade. Her husband (and that’s putting it nicely) made her feel invisible and unworthy. When he crosses the final line, she finally finds the strength to leave. Three months later, she runs into Kirby, and as they start spending time together, Kirby finds it impossible not to show how he feels for her. Lexi slowly begins to feel like herself again, and when she finally gives in to Kirby, they discover a happiness that had been out of reach for both of them for too long.

I honestly could go on and on about this book. You can’t help but root for Lexi as she finds her way out and spreads her wings under Kirby’s protection. His patience with her was everything, and I absolutely loved seeing the Petrov family back together—with a little help from him.

Meet Natasha Madison:  When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
