The Mr & Mrs Mistake by Brighton Walsh
A Marriage of Convenience Small Town Romance
Steele Brothers of Starlight Cove #3

πŸ’ Marriage of convenience
πŸ’ Enemies to lovers
πŸ’ Black cat x golden retriever
πŸ’ Brother’s best friend
πŸ’ Forced proximity
πŸ’ Only one bed
πŸ’ Slow burn
πŸ’ β€œMy wife”

My best friend’s little sister has been getting under my skin for decades. She’s my lifelong nemesis and nowβ€”apparentlyβ€”my wife.

When Willa Jameson stumbled into my bar drunk, heartbroken, and desperate to save her family farm, I offered to marry her. For β€œconvenience.”

Which is hilarious, because nothing about my attraction to this hurricane with hips has ever been convenient.

Now we’re sharing a roof, a bed, and a potential felony thanks to our fake marriage.

It’s supposed to be a favor between not-quite-friends-but-not-quite-enemies. Then our late-night arguments turn into practice make out sessions.

But according to her, that changes absolutely nothing between us.

No matter how many lines we draw, we keep crossing themβ€”in the kitchen, on the porch, in the tiny bed that’s become both heaven and hell.

And the woman who swears she hates me starts looking at me like I might be exactly what she needs.

She calls me her temporary husband. I call her my daily torture, because every day we play house, it feels less like pretending and more like home.

When this ends, I don’t know how I’m going to forget what it felt like to call her mine. So either I walk away with her, or I don’t walk away at all.

Willa and Lincoln have a strange relationship. From what i gathered in the story they used to be best friends but now they can’t stand each other (sorta). I couldn’t find what broke their friendship but i guess that’s a good excuse as any to do a re-read, am i right? :)

When she ends up in his bar totally heartbroken, he’s there to help her out. And when he learns her troubles, he’s more than happy to fill out the spot as her husband. The start to their romantic relationship is anything but easy, but being confined in a tiny space with a hot couple who have chemistry to days, ignited a fire in them both. Soon they can’t keep their hands off each other, and when pretend starts to feel more and more real, Willa will have to decide if trusting Lincoln is best for her.

I absolutely loved the cat and mouse these two played. I loved the passion Lincoln had for her work and wanted to help her. This story made my day and i could not recommend it enough.

πŸŽ§πŸ“šARC & Audiobook ReviewπŸ“šπŸŽ§

So, I did a thing (lol). I ARC read this story what feels like a hundred years ago but possibly just like 4 weeks ago, but I didn’t get selected for an ALC this time so on 01/01 (release day), I began to listen and let me tell you something … You have not lived until you listen to 🎀JF Harding & 🎀Savannah Peachwood in DUET banter back and forth as Lincoln & Willa! I said what I said! GO DO THE THING! However, that’s not even the thing LOL! So I was minding my own business, listening to these two and BAM, it hit me how much I’d missed Laurel (IYKYK), so obviously I had to go to the beginning, as one does, and here I am … LOL ready to review!

Honest to Pete, I laughed from paragraph one and pretty much did not stop until the end. These two didn’t just make me laugh with their banter, but also with their inner thoughts and all I could think of over and over again is that not only do I want to be Willa when I grow up but they were #mypeople! It was a glorious feeling kids! I just could not get enough of this story! Truth be told, I can’t get enough of this series but also Brighton herself. My journey with Brighton’s words began around 2017/18 and I honestly cannot think of another author that I have been reading for as long as Brighton, that has grown as much as she has in her writing. And she grew exponentially beginning with the OG Starlight Cove series. I’m pretty sure that I have re-listened/re-read all Starlight Cove stories at least 2-3 times. They are all really great but they are also better than each other and I gotta tell ya, if for no other reason than that, you should be reading any/all of her work. #TRUST

The story of Linc & Willa wasn’t just incredibly humorous and entertaining on all fronts; it was also emotional from the very beginning. Sometimes the β€œemotion” was low-key and other times it was angsty but there was always an undercurrent of some kind β€œfeeling” (other than the humor) that laced every circumstance. Brighton interwove all of this perfectly and with precision. Nothing really overshadowed anything. Willa and Linc both grew as part of this journey as individuals and as a β€œcouple” and it all was balanced really well. I will say that if I was to pick between Willa & Linc as to which one had the β€œbigger” or rather more impactful transformation, I’d have to say Willa. GAH, she was a glorious force of nature! I am just so ridiculously happy about this story and this series that I want to burst with it sometimes! It is an incredible #happyplace that no one should miss!

MEET THE AUTHOR: USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first loveβ€”writing. She likes her books how she likes her teaβ€”steamy and satisfyingβ€”and adores strong-willed heroines and the protective heroes who fall head over heels for them. Brighton lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kidsβ€”one who’s already taller than her and one who’s catching up too fastβ€”and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it’s mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible.
