He was my first love.
My first heartbreak.
The boy who made the one mistake Iβll never forgive.
Roderick Wilder and I grew up side by sideβtwo kids tangled up in music, mixtapes, and lyrics that felt like they belonged only to us. Then he destroyed everything we had and disappeared, chasing a future without me.
Twelve years later, heβs back.
Not the rising star I remember, but a man whoβs broken, scarred, and desperate to rewrite his story.
The problem? Iβve already started falling for someone elseβan anonymous stranger I trade late-night messages with, sharing lyrics and reliving the bands that shaped us.
He feels safe.
He feels new.
He feels like everything Roderick isnβt.
But soon I might need to choose between the stranger who makes me believe again . . . and the boy who once destroyed me.

(Not So) Simple Lyrics by Claudia Y. Burgoa
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
DO NOT READ this book if you’re emotionally unstable. These two will make you ugly cry and root for them so hard you’re hands will shake. But before i get into it, I got to say the whole reason for their breakup is not sitting well with me. I get he was not OK but still…Kit is a better woman than me that’s for sure. Now back to the story. This story will heal a lot of Millennial/Gen X hearts, i think.
Roderick and Kitβs story was captivating from the start. Despite the break up (which was bad), i wanted him to find his footing. I loved the ups and downs to their love story. As said she was a better woman than me, but i still love that they ended up together. The whole plot was perfectly executed, from how they were forced to work together to the whole discovery who they were talking to on the side (i don’t miss those days when waiting to see if i would be able to connect to the internet – yes I’m that old OMG).
I have a feeling i found my new favorite series by Claudia Burgoa and i can’t wait to see what happens next.
