Series off to a great start that’s for sure.
Harriet and Alexandru have an unusual start to their relationship. She’s trying to find peace after her father’s death and he has no peace, being vampire and losing one assistant after another for hundreds of years. He feels a poll towards her and with her smart mouth, highly functional brain wants her near him as his assistant. When she agrees is under one condition; she takes on a role of assistant, and he helps her to salve a few investigations that she feels are a problem.
The slow burn (if I can call it that)is great, and the side characters added to the story because as much as he wanted to bind her to his will, she refuses to be submitted to his will. And with the ending of book 1 I have a feeling we’re in for a ride with these two and I can’t be happier about it.
