Matteo “Lucky” Branson has it all—an elite hockey career, a massive fanbase, and the kind of charm that trends effortlessly on TikTok. As the fun-loving left winger for the Pittsburgh Titans, he’s built a brand on superstition and swagger. But when a viral dating challenge puts him opposite a woman who couldn’t care less about his fame, Lucky’s about to learn the hard way that some games don’t follow the playbook.

They call me Lucky for a reason. My grandmother swears I was cursed at birth—yet somehow, I’ve been kissed by fate every day since. I’ve got my rabbit’s foot, a shamrock tattoo, and quirky rituals by the dozen—and it’s all worked so far. Life’s been smooth. Hockey, clout, fun… I’m skating through.

Until I meet Winifred Shaw. Winnie. She’s smart, bold, and laugh-out-loud funny, with a TikTok following that rivals mine and a dating challenge that’s going viral. The premise? Thirty days of dating to prove an average woman can still land a decent guy. I’m the first to accept the challenge—one night, one chance, and then she moves on. But the moment she rolls her eyes at me, I’m hooked.

She thinks I’m just another overhyped athlete with a pretty face and a lucky streak. But I see her—confident, curvy, electric—and I don’t just want a second date. I want every single one after that.

I’ve always trusted luck to get me where I need to be. But this time? I’m ready to fight for it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first thing I did when I finished this story was bring up my IMs with Lisa Kuhne (that’s Sawyer’s assistant) and scream “MOTHER FUCKER! That was a fucking great story! K,bye”! Now, if you know me, you know that when I bring out the ”fucks”, whatever I was listening/reading is beyond any scale/rating. In a perfect world, that should be my review in total, but these vendors can be assholes about using profanity so I gotta pretty it up for you.

The level of happiness this story carries is immeasurable. Even when the story went thru conflict, there was positivity surrounding it. It’s authentic and real and very relatable, especially because of how much social media has taken over society’s form of communication in today’s world. It was genius for Sawyer to take this theme and put together two characters who are complete opposites in all manner of speaking, even down to how they handle/use social media and have them bond and journey to the ❤️sweet spot❤️. No detail of today’s “online crazy” was missed or glossed over in this story and every one of those aspects was represented very true to life. It was so easy to get lost in this story because of its realism, both the good and bad that society brings to the table when it comes to social media. Sawyer didn’t miss a single beat in Lucky & Winnie’s story!

🎧Narration by Connor Crais & CJ Bloom was utter perfection! Connor’s performance as Lucky was very on point and CJ performed Winnie exactly as I’d expect Winnie to be. It was perfect casting! Listening to this story made me very happy and while I didn’t sit and read the story and did more of a read/listen along, I get the feeling that whichever your preferred format might be, this is going to be an excellent experience for you! #betme

I’ve been reading/listening to Sawyer’s work for over a decade and while there are a lot of stories I could scream from the rooftops about, these last two Pittsburg Titan stories (Penn & Lucky) are two stories that stand above the best of the best. #trust

Matteo aka Lucky is a hockey star who’s all charm and Tik tok sensation with his dance moves. Winnie is a sweet and sassy kindergarten teacher who’s a fellow Tik tok sensation in her own lane and accidentally goes viral when she complains about yet another bad date. Lucky sees this and applies for the job of showing her that there a still good man out there.
One things leads to another and soon they’re spending quality time together and slowly but surly they start developing feelings for each other.

But Tik tok fame is a fragile thing and soon internet trolls come and make Winnie insecure in herself. Lucky will have to make her and everyone else see, just how special she is.

It was so much fun seeing Lucky try to prove he’s just an ordinary guy (trust me he’s anything but). The way he confides in his mom was so sweet. But don’t worry, he’s a devil behind closed doors so not to worry this book has enough heat to sent the room on fire.
