Penn and Mila’s history is anything but pretty. Their youth came to an abrupt end because of a single decision made by their friends. Fast forward a decade—Mila is back, desperate and asking Penn for help.
Penn is as emotionally closed off as it gets. If you’ve been following this series, you know how hard his teammates have tried to get him to open up, all to no avail. So saying he’s reluctant is an understatement. But while Penn may be many things, a complete jerk isn’t one of them. He offers Mila a place to stay so they can figure out who’s after them.
When they reach their breaking point, something shifts inside both of them, and they end up with more than they ever imagined.
I loved this story from start to finish. It touches on difficult topics that are often hard to speak about, and I was thrilled to see our main characters find their HEA in each other’s arms.

THIS STORY!
This story is a lot. It’s big. It’s a lot. Did I say that already? It’s worth repeating again and again. It’s extraordinary. It’s outrageous. It’s emotional. It’s not “light” but I did laugh. It’s expertly unfolded and it’s unbelievably emotional. SO MUCH EMOTION. I’m crying again so exiting stage left.
But also, I am so fucking proud of Sawyer for this story.
