Well, this story did not pull any punches. *eyes wide*
There are circumstances that happen in this part of the duet that I can’t really talk about because, spoilers, but I can say that every one of them gutted me in some form. I have never been more apprehensive of turning pages in a book in my life. It is literally one right after the other and it is only the beginning. Not gonna lie, the dedication worried me and still worries me, but I trust Osborn so now I wait … *deep breath*
This isn’t a story you can just pick up and read without having read the past books in the series. Again, not much detail I can give you on that, but truth be told, none of the books in this series have been standalones. A good MC romance series will have a club arc that runs throughout the whole series in conjunction with “romance journeys” for the members. That alone is reason enough to start from the beginning with any MC series. Do with that information what you will :)
The first half to three quarters of this book is all about the club and is told in multiple POVs. The story takes a shift after that and focuses on Phoenix and Clover and then … BAM … so we wait. *blink*

Victorious is book five in the L.A. Defiance MC Series and part 1 of the duet, which means it ends in a cliff hanger. The duet is the final books in the series and told in multiple point of views.
There’s plenty of drama, action, angst, violence, and plot twists. Due to the multiple point of views in the first 1/2-3/4 of the book it wasn’t about one couple but rather about the MC as a whole and the tensions boiling over. The last 1/4 was mostly from Clover and Phoenix’s point of view.
For some reason I struggle to gel with Haven and Alpha. Obviously this is a me problem. I have a lot of grievances with those two. Especially with how the first 1/2 of this book goes down. I love a strong, independent woman, but Haven takes it over the top that I feel it’s obnoxious. And the whole thing with Alpha’s daughter just weirds me out. Additionally, I felt the scenes with Clover and Phoenix became repetitive. Literally the same argument in every chapter.
Overall this is what you would expect from a Defiance book. Entertainment and full of fast paced vibes this book is 3.5 out 5 for me. I’m curious how this series will conclude, my prediction is we get introduced to a new club chapter which will lead to another new Defiance Series.
