Maddox comes to a small Colorado town for the summer to relax and work on his thesis. He didn’t expect to find a great guy to spend time with or to develop feelings for him. Cade is straight…ish. But when he mows down an interesting man he thinks, “If my (body part) is curious, I’m not going to let gender stand in the way.” Their back and forth keeps both men on their toes. Cade is not flirty..”he’s hospitable.”

The angst in the book came from Cade worrying all the time that his free and easy lifestyle makes him unworthy of Maddox’s interest. I felt that the unworthiness was reiterated too often. He’d never been with another man but that fact didn’t bother him at all.

I really liked the town of Katah Vista and its inhabitants. A small town where everybody knows your name, business, and what you did the night before. There was some snark but mostly just caring, a bit of nosy gossip, and neighbors helping neighbors. The kind of place that probably doesn’t exist in real life.

I felt the book dragged in places but overall it was okay.

MEET THE AUTHOR: Hi! I’m Michele. I was ten when I read my first romance, a Jude Deveraux book I swiped from my mom’s bookshelf. I’ve read anything and everything since then; historical fiction, mystery, fantasy and even non-fiction. I devour it all. But I keep coming back to romance. Though sports romance is my guilty pleasure (I love all things active and outdoors), I don’t discriminate by genre or trope.

I love a steamy story (no closed-door scenes for me) but I also love romance. I want to see the emotion behind the steam, to understand what drives characters to fall in love. And I want to fall in love with the people on the page as they’re falling in love with each other. Above all else, I want the fantasy to feel like it could be reality. That’s why I started writing.
