This temptation is my punishment.
His redemption is my penance.
Jonah Hendrix is the bad boy of the music industry.
As lead guitarist of The Hometown Heartless,
negative press follows him like a scorned lover,
And even his fans fuel the flames of his torched reputation.
Despite his permanent residence in the media,
He’s never been on my radar.
Not until my boss comes to me with a proposition:
Join The Hometown Heartless on tour to redeem Jonah in the public eye,
and finally get the promotion I’ve been working toward.
I’m not a PR specialist, and it’s not my career ambition,
but I’m determined to see this job through.
As long as I treat the surly rock star like a brand,
I’ll succeed in rehabbing his reputation and survive the tour with my sanity intact.
The problem?
Jonah and I have more in common than either of us realized.
And that desire for connection?
It’s proving to be irresistible.

🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧
There are stories that you read, and you love them.
There are stories that you love and make you feel all the things.
There are stories that you love, make you feel all the things, and you experience them down to the marrow of your soul. You are captive by them to the point of consumption. They drag you in to the story watching it all happen as if you were right there.
For Wrath and Redemption was that kind of story for me.
These characters that Brit has created, flawed, transformed and most of all, redeemed will take up space in my heart and mind for a long while to come. Their journey is gripping and unforgettable. I was all up in my head and my feelings at every turn and incredibly awed. Awed because this story felt real to me. It wasn’t just realistic fiction for me. It was real.
This isn’t an easy story. It represents life at its lowest and doesn’t sugar coat a single thing. It’s respectful of its circumstances and extremely true to life. Journeys are not just one thing or another, they’re always a blend and I love when authors incorporate this realism as part of their stories. I love when they include the darker side of life, because life is really grey most of the time and portraying it any other way, while not completely unsatisfactory to read, is just fluff. *shrug*
I like Brit Benson. I like her style. I like that she digs deep into her characters and her storylines. I like that she thoroughly develops all aspects of her stories and doesn’t overly dramatize plot-points for affect. I like that she writes stories that are all consuming and rip you apart but always put you back together. I’m looking forward to not only catching up with her backlist but also to what’s next. Her storytelling skills are addictive, and I am ready for my next fix!
🎧The duet narration by Jason Clarke and Mollie Stark was utter perfection. This was my first audio narrated by Mollie and I’m in love! Her style is what I refer to as conversational. She’s not “trying” to perform a part, she is the part. She’s easy to listen to because she doesn’t try. I don’t know if that makes any sense but that’s what I have. LOL Of course Jasen Clarke nailed it. I had no doubt that he would, except for some reason, his distinction between characters wasn’t very noticeable and it made me twitchy too many times. This has never been an issue in the past that I can think of so I’m unsure what to make of it but the story itself, being as incredibly good as it was, made me not care as much as I probably would have cared with another story. Make sense? It’s a bleep in the overall of it all.

“Thank you for that offer, but I’m going to decline.”
Jonah’s grin falls. “Excuse me?”
“I won’t be doing any of it.”
“I can end your career with a phone call.”
“And I know every consequence you’ll face if you don’t cooperate. I know that scares you. Because who are you if you’re not in this band? If you’re not this cocky, broody rock star? Hm?”
His eyes narrow to slits as he juts his chin, telling me to go on.
“Without the façade, you’re everything you hate. Just a spoiled rich boy with zero repercussions for your bad behavior. Until now.”
I mimic his earlier gesture and reach for his face, but unlike me, he doesn’t swat at my hand. He lets me run my fingers over his jaw.
“You’re not the only one who can do an internet search. I was surprised to see you with brown hair and glasses in your school pictures.” I look back into his blue eyes. “Do you wear contacts?”
He swallows, and my attention drops to his Adam’s apple. There’s an anatomical heart inked on his throat, and it looks like it’s beating with the movement. I drop my hand and step back before I touch that, too.
“I’ve watched women I love be mistreated by men like you my whole life. I won’t let you do that to me. I’m here to do a job, and if I go down, I’m taking you with me.”
His face grows devoid of emotion. I wonder if this is how serial killers look just before they snap. I’m not afraid of him, though. My anger makes me stupid.
“Understand?”
“Sure, Davis.” A smirk forms on his swollen, thoroughly kissed lips. “Now what should I do about this?”
He gestures to his lower body. I forgot he was naked, but now I have to fight to keep my eyes above his chin. I don’t want to know if he’s still hard. I don’t care.
I sigh. “I’m taking a shower. Good night.”

MEET THE AUTHOR:

Brit Benson writes real, relatable romance. She likes outspoken, independent heroines, dirty talking, love-struck heroes, and plots that get you right in the feels.
Brit would almost always rather be reading or writing. When she’s not dreaming up her next swoony book boyfriend and fierce book bestie, she’s getting lost in someone else’s fictional world. When she’s not doing that, she’s probably marathoning a Netflix series or wandering aimlessly up and down the aisles in Homegoods, sniffing candles and touching things she’ll never buy.
