When aid workers Will, Melanie, and Jon find themselves tangled in an incident with devastating consequences, throwing them into a world of chaos and despair. Can their loved ones help them find their way back to life?

Will
Since Katie and I split up, I’ve done everything I can to be the man she and our daughter, Phoebe, deserve. But it was never enough. So I threw myself into work, into danger, into anything that would stop me from thinking too hard. Then it all went wrong, and suddenly, I had no choice but to come home. I’m broken, barely holding on, and the last thing I want is for Katie to see me like this. But she’s here anyway, refusing to walk away, determined to help me heal—even when I am not sure there’s anything left to save.
Katie
I never stopped loving Will, but I couldn’t live with the fear, the endless waiting for a call that would change everything. Walking away was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I had to—for Phoebe and for myself. Now he’s back, and he’s not the same man who left. He’s hurting in ways I can’t begin to understand, and no matter how much I try to keep my distance, I can’t turn my back on him. He’s Phoebe’s dad, and she needs him to find his way back. That’s all this is. Helping him, for her. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.

Mission by Dani Elias
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Will and Katie love each other, but his job is putting too much stress on her and their marriage. It’s been four years since they split up, but the love has not gone away. After Will survives a horrible accident, Katie offers to stay with him until he recovers.
Little by little, they fall into old patterns and discover that despite being apart, their love is still as strong as it was when they were married. So giving it a second chance was a no-brainer.
I love second-chance romance, and these two were hard not to love. The story was short but well-paced, and when they gave in to the love, all was good in the world.
