John Elliott is a busy man. He runs his farm and his business, keeping to himself, with no time for anything else in his life.

Quinn Harper is a single mother, looking for a fresh start.
The small town she picked seemed perfect—until her first run-in with John.

They strike sparks of the wrong kind and insist that keeping their distance is for the best.

Yet, despite his growly nature and curt tone, he is sweet to her daughter.
And he finds himself looking for reasons to be in Quinn’s company.
Do things that make them both smile. Make him feel happy.

Sparks sizzle into a low, banked fire.
And then an inferno erupts.
Neither wanted it.
But now, they can’t live without it.

READ AN EXCERPT:

“Tell me,” I replied, my voice dropping to a husky whisper.

“I heard your hugs are the best. I’d like to find out.”

I pulled her close, holding her in my embrace. She fit against me, looping her arms around my waist. I held her tight, breathing her in. Then I slipped my fingers under her chin and stared down at her. “Do you want to know what I want?”

“I’m hoping it’s the same thing I want,” she murmured, kissing my thumb that lingered near her mouth.

With a groan, I captured her lips with mine and kissed her. There was nothing gentle and sweet about it. It was hard and deep. Claiming. I explored her, drinking her in, sliding my hand to her butt and cupping it. She responded, her breathy sounds egging me on. My c*ck hardened, trapped between us, and it was only the sleeping child in the back seat that stopped me from pinning Quinn against the vehicle and ravishing her completely.

📖📖eBook Review📖📖

I love when a cover fits a story perfectly. I love when a title fits a story perfectly. Why you ask? Because I like a cover to tell a story. I don’t read blurbs (mostly) and I stay away from reading teasers and such even though I will use them to promote, so you (the author) will hook me by your cover (mostly) and then the title. ”Make it make sense” is a phrase I am constantly using in my bookish chats because so many times covers make less than zero sense to me and it makes me #twitchy. Melanie gets infinite stars for “making it make sense” to me! :)

A Simple Life made me happy. I felt all of it from the adorable relationship between John & Abby, to the swoon worthy relationship between Quinn and John, to the bond between daughter and mother to the ultimate ❤️sweet spot❤️ between all three! This story just wrapped itself around my heart and wouldn’t let go. Believe it or not, I read thru the entire story in one afternoon (okay it was midmorning thru bedtime lol)! Honestly, the story had an ease to it that made me just want to experience more and more of it. I was sad to see it end but also happy at how it all worked out. There were no over dramatizations or last minute OTT circumstances to make me #twitchy, just good old fashion romance and heart! #happysigh

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a sweet story by Melanie Moreland about John aka Farmer John, Quinn, and her adorable daughter, Abby. At first, things were pretty rocky between them, always starting off on the wrong foot. But as time went on, they kept bumping into each other, and eventually, an undeniable bond started to grow.

Farmer John found himself falling deeply for both Quinn and little Abby, who was a firecracker. Their connection turned into a beautiful relationship. Once Farmer John learned about Quinn and Abby’s past, he was determined to make their lives better. His dedication to their happiness and well-being became his sole focus in life and I loved him for it. It’s amazing how simple love and understanding can change lives for the better.

I’ve been reading Melanie Moreland for some time now and each and every time I pick up her work, I’m constantly amazed how great her stories are. This one was simply amazing and if you’re looking for a sweet, at times sizzling love story, look no further – this one takes the cake.

Bestselling author Melanie Moreland lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-seven-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.

While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample.

She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.

Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling down stairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She’s learned happily ever afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.
