Waves of Fury by K Webster
Surviving Earth Chronicles
Genres: MM Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Suspense Romance
Release: October 15, 2024

From USA Today Bestselling Author K Webster comes a post-apocalyptic, ruined-Earth survival thriller featuring LGBTQ+ heroes who must ban together, despite their differences, to not only adapt to the new, destroyed world, but find safety in it.

A cataclysmic, city-destroying tsunami crashes its way through San Francisco and it’s not looking to recede anytime soon…

Relentless waves and terrifying rises of flood waters. People stranded in the tops of the highest buildings. No hope for rescue. Ever.

Kellen Bennett has lived his entire life in deep-seeded fear. But, in the face of human extinction, he can finally become the man he always wanted to be. Brave.

Being the CEO of his company, Kellen feels responsible for those who are stranded in his building and is willing to do whatever it takes to look after them until help arrives.

Tyler Walsh, a food deliveryman, finds himself stranded with an arrogant businessman and a floor full of scared people. He doesn’t want to wait to be rescued. His family is out there somewhere, and he’ll swim across the entire Pacific Ocean if that means getting to them.

He may only be eighteen, but Tyler has more street smarts than all the survivors he’s stuck with combined, which means he can’t leave them to their own devices, or they’ll all die.

With unmanned ships crashing into buildings, strange weather outbursts at every turn, and people losing their minds to fear of the unknown, Kellen and Tyler must team up to devise a plan to rescue themselves and those around them.

But Earth is furious, throwing a tantrum of epic proportions.
As the weather events multiply and increase in violent nature, they realize time is quickly running out.

They have to get off the building and onto dry land before their only source of protection crumbles into the wicked, monstrous sea.

If there’s any land left standing that is…

Waves of Fury is a post-apocalyptic adventure set in a tsunami-flooded city in the Pacific Northwest. This book is a stand-alone, with tie-ins to Skies of Fire, another Surviving Earth Chronicles installment written by Lindsey Pogue.

Waves of Fury by K. Webster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tyler starts his day as normal, sparing with his brothers. Delivering coffee to his brothers nasty girlfriend might actually be the best thing that happens to him. Kellen is cranky, waiting for his lunch to be delivered. The delivery boy is late and Kellen goes off on him. Normal goes out the window, literally. A group of people become trapped in a high rise by a tsunami and must band together to survive the (possible) end of the world.

Tyler and Kellen managed to save each other (more than once) and fell in love along the way. The heat level was fairly low and given the nature of the story it felt appropriate.

I really enjoy apocalyptic stories and this one was a good roller coaster ride. The tsunami, torrential rains, earthquakes, and sinkholes are just few of the trials the group must face. Total destruction, death, brutality, and love and loss are hallmarks of the book. The suspense of surviving hour to hour kept the book moving rapidly while allowing the reader to feel each painful step the group took.

The author created vibrant characters and even the unlikeable ones made quite an impact. The growth each character experienced became paramount to the survival of the group and the death of some kept the realism and integrity of the book intact.

Ultimately the story is an ode to the unbreakable spirit humans have deep inside them. I liked the book very much.
