Lost in the Moonlight by L.J. Evans
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release: September 25, 2024

When the son of the world’s most powerful family saves a woman in witness protection from an attack, neither expects the forbidden desire that erupts or the trouble that follows them home.

Having escaped evil once, I live my life for every joyous minute until a chilling confrontation brings a grumpy protector into my world.

Lincoln Matherton is both avenging angel and tortured superhero. He’s also completely off-limits. As the President’s son, he’s one of the most famous people in the country…and I’m in witness protection. He draws attention even while hiding in our small town, and the only thing keeping me safe is not being seen.

But a mere brush of hands ignites a flame I can’t deny and a craving I ache to explore. So when the elusive artist insists on walking me to work, I accept the forbidden thrill of his company. After all, who will see us in the dead of the night?

Only someone does…

As danger slinks from the shadows to threaten me once more, Lincoln vows to keep me safe. But I’m afraid his fierce determination won’t be enough. Worse, I fear evil might simply take him with me.

Lost in the Moonlight by L.J. Evans
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Per usual I was lost to the world while reading L.J. Evans. Her words have a way of making me forget everything and simply enjoy the beautifully written stories she provides every single time. This time around it was Lincoln and Willows turn to escape their past and find happiness that seemed to be escaping them at every turn.

Willow’s past should leave her vary and close off, but she’s still has hope that there are good people in the world. Lincoln’s past seems to still haunt him every turn he makes. Unlike Willow, he’s closed off and not letting anyone in. When their paths cross, something inside him cracks open and he wants to help and keep her safe. Connection like theirs comes once in a lifetime and when past comes to claim her, they need to stand together to come out as winners on the other side.

This story was filled with raw emotions, that helped our MCs find peace in each other. I loved the added element of PNR and the suspense kept me rooted to my seat until I was sure nothing would ever come between them again. If it’s not clear I absolutely recommend this book (and the series).

Award winning author, LJ Evans, lives in the Northern California with her husband, child, and the three terrors known as cats. She’s been writing, almost as a compulsion, since she was a little girl and will often pull the car over to write when a song lyric strikes her. A former first grade teacher, she now spends her days reading and writing, as well as binge-watching original shows like Ted Lasso, Wednesday, Veronica Mars, and Stranger Things.

If you ask her the one thing she won’t do, it’s pretty much anything that involves dirt—sports, gardening, or otherwise. But she loves to write about all of those things, and her first published heroine was pretty much involved with dirt on a daily basis, which is exactly why LJ loves fiction novels—the characters can be everything you’re not and still make their way into your heart.

Her novel, CHARMING AND THE CHERRY BLOSSOM, was Writer’s Digest Self-Published E-book Romance of the Year in 2021. Find out more at ljevansbooks.com.
