At the rink to watch our goalie’s kids play Peewee hockey, I meet Willa Montreaux and somehow, by the end of that interaction, I’ve offered to help her coach the Ice Pups. Altruism or were there other intentions in that offer? A little of both, if I’m being honest.
As the time I spend with Willa increases, I am absolutely certain I want even more. She’s gorgeous, sure, but that’s superficial. Willa is also funny, loving, determined and smart. SO smart. Doctor smart. Probably too intelligent for a jock like me, but that’s not going to stop me from shooting my shot.
Not looking for anything more than a fling and concerned that she’s too old for me, Willa doesn’t want to venture into anything serious. I’m willing to put in the work and give her the space she needs to come to terms with the fact that the connection we have is far more than physical. Willa and I are end game, but I’m willing to play into overtime if that’s what it takes to walk away with her by my side.

What’s a girl to do when you take on a role that you know nothing about? Willa offers her help of becoming a hockey couch for her niece team since nobody wanted to do it. She’s a former figure skater so she hopes that will be enough. But navigating little kids and their parents is not an easy task and one of the fathers gets upset over her, she’s saved (not that she needs it) by our man King. He offers his help and she’s not sure how it would work with his hockey schedule.
But they find a balance and soon are spending more than just coaching time. But Willa was badly hurt by her ex-husband and with their age difference (she’s 8 years older than him) getting to lower her guard proves to be a challenge to King.
King was smitten the moment he laid eyes on the feisty doctor. The more time they spend together the more he’s drawn to her. He wants her to be his in every way imaginable and he’s determined to make her see just how special their bond is. With a few hiccups on the way they manage to find common ground and let their love grow.
Per usual I was rooted to my seat until THE END appeared in front of me and with all the new info we get about the rest of the team I’m positive the best is yet to come.
