SAM
I hate my hometown.
But whether I like it or not, I’m back.
Putting me face-to-face with all the reasons I left, including the forking family I’ve been avoiding for years.
What I don’t expect to find in Fork Lick?
The woman who upended my world last year.
Making videos with my grandmother.
DIANE
I know what I’m hiding.
But the guy I left in bed after a steamy one-night stand…
I haven’t a clue what’s going on behind those Clark Kent glasses of his.
I’ve met his goofy dog Gomer, his social media-obsessed grandmother, and his sheep that lives in a palace. I know he wears a three-piece suit and a flannel shirt equally well–not to mention what he looks like underneath. I know he abruptly quit his job at that evil conglomerate.
Because of something I said.
What I can’t figure out is why he avoids his adorable, hilarious family. Or why he steers clear of their picture-perfect farm. Or what’s so wrong with cute-as-a-button Fork Lick?
I never felt at home in the Manhattan penthouse where I grew up, but I love everything about this tiny town. Including… Sam.
Problem is, no matter what his secrets are, mine are definitely worse.

For Fork’s Sake by Karen Grey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I really like Karen Grey’s style! Her stories are so easy to get lost in, it’s ridiculous LOL. The minute I started reading I didn’t want to stop, except I started like at 8 pm so … not only did I not want to stop reading this story, but I really wanted to start at the beginning of this series ASAP. I haven’t had the chance yet, but they are both on my #ASAPTBR list!
I was looking thru my notes, and the first highlight was in the title page: A RIVALS-TO-LOVERS ROMANCE … How much do you love Karen now for not just using the generic *enemies* word and using the word that really fits the story? Me, I love her a lot for it!! Okay, that’s probably a me thing and has nothing to do with how the words on these pages made me feel, so moving forward :) (but I just had to mention it because *heart eyes*)
The story of Sam and Diane (yes, my brain said “Little ditty ’bout Jack [Sam] and Diane” as soon as I typed that because I am ridiculous and now the song is in my head *blink*) made me all kinds of happy and swoony because as the story progressed, I came to realize that they got each other in a way no one had before. They each had personal circumstances that the other helped in navigating. They grew because of each other. They just fit and it was just adorbs. The story was fun and full of humor but also dealt with subject matter (neurodiversity) that affects so many people in a respectful way without driving the story by these circumstances. I for one appreciate the way that Karen unfolded Sam’s character growth as an individual and also as one of a pair and how Diane enhanced his growth as an individual and as a pair. Make sense? *sigh* That was wordy lol but I’m leaving it as is.
Thank you Karen for the opportunity to get lost in one of your stories once again!
