These books are about a whole world of people full of Machiavellian tendencies. Convoluted and confusing but the intensity of the story just pulled me in. Steampunk, plus revenants (zombies), plus epic storytelling, makes this whole series irresistible.
Eimarille, Teralyn, F/F. Eimarille’s heart (if she has one) is ruled by her unreasoning ambition and love for her Blade, Teralyn. The depths of their evil is astounding. Their commitment to each other just as deep.
Soren, Vanya, M/M. Soren is a Warden, his duties are difficult, deadly, and his secrets just can’t stay hidden. Vanya is an emperor, torn between his love for Soren, his honor, and his duty to his daughter and country. His waiting for Soren to return was never in question.
Blaine and Honovi – Married M/M. Forced apart for years at a time in service to their country, doing everything they can to keep balance in their lives and land. Wanting and needing to ensure their futures don’t vanish under the heels of Eimarille’s ambition.
Caris and Nathaniel M/F. Their love story is interrupted by the the evil perpetrated by Eimarille’s desire for power. Caris only wants to protect her country and the man she loves. If she has to burn evil to protect them, she will.
This book (and series) have a depth of world building that is exceptional. This was an epic story to read. Full of dastardly deeds, heroic acts, sacrifice, death, and undying love.
I believe this series must be read in order for understanding and maximum enjoyment.
