“Do you have questions for me? I feel like I’ve been peppering you with them all day.”

“Because you have,” I say, playfully rolling my eyes. “First things first. Are you on birth control?”

“Yes.”

“What kind?”

“I get a shot and I’m ridiculously punctual about it.”

“Good. When was the last time you had $ex?”

“It’s been close to six months,” she says with a dramatic sigh. “I’m not as celibate as you, but it hasn’t been a priority since school started back up.”

“Summer fling,” I ask her, reaching to grab her foot and pulling so she lies flatter on the sofa. I knead under her toes.

“I guess. More just had an itch that needed scratching. He had a big neck.”

“Is that code for something?”

“No,” she says, her cheeks flushing just a bit.

“You have some explaining to do, Ms. Cole. What’s with the big neck?”

“It’s just something I like.”

“On everyone or certain necks in particular?”

“One in particular,” she says confidently. “I won’t accept being teased over it.”

Then she sticks her tongue out at me, making me burst out in another round of laughter. I hope

I’m never unsurprised by her fun sense of humor.

Flurry is book two in the Seattle Blades Series, and can be read as a complete standalone. This is a MMF, hockey sports romance told in multiple points of view.

The main characters are Zander, Willa, and Damian. Zander was forced to suppress who he is, stemming from the environment he grew up in. Being a professional athlete doesn’t give him the privacy to find himself and figure out his personal life as easily. Damian is a mix of mysterious and perceptive. He has a big heart and often times struggled to express himself or allow himself to feel emotions and tenderness from others. Willa is a force. She is strong willed, independent, sassy, funny, and she seems to be the glue that keeps the trio together.

Their story was entertaining, easy to read, and flowed at a good pace. The plot had a good mix of angst, humor, spice, and emotional elements. There were a lot of relatible aspects and real life issues such as anxiety, homophobia, family issues, etc.

Rhyme’s is the queen of writing unique, unconventional, non-traditional romances. She also knows how to rip your heart out, stomp on it, and then piece it back together. I look forward to reading what she comes up with next.
