An Unfinished Memory by Marie Johnston

AN UNFINISHED MEMORY
Oil Knights #3
Marie Johnston
Release Date: February 15

ABOUT THE BOOK:

I never keep secrets from my best friend, but I’m not sure how to tell her I’m sneaking around with her brother…who’s also my ex-husband.

I might be single, but I’m not ready to mingle. I should’ve stayed home from the street dance. My feet are barely surviving the two-step and my dance partners are looking for dates while I’m only interested in forgetting the man I was once married to.

The night’s about to end with bruised toes and a rain storm when the guy who swept me off my feet years ago cuts in right before the downpour starts. Wilder Knight has always been the best dance partner I’ve ever had. Just not the best husband.

Once the storm hits, we take refuge in his pickup, but that isn’t all we do. After steaming up the windows and losing my underwear, I make a habit out of hooking up with my ex-husband.

Only the longer we continue, the easier it is to see why our marriage fell apart. I couldn’t get over him the first time and losing him a second time might destroy the secure life I’ve built for myself, leaving me to ask… Were we better left an unfinished memory?

An Unfinished Memory by Marie Johnston
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve read this book 2 days ago and I’m still thinking about it. When I finished it, it left me with mixed emotions. One minute I wanted to scream at Wilder to leave her be because his life had very little room for her, next I wanted to strangle Sutton because you could see how much he loves her and was doing his best to find a halfway for them to try being together again. To be honest I didn’t think I’d give a 5* rating, but now after I had time to think about this story I can see the brilliance that is this book.

Wilder and Sutton never stopped loving each other. It was finding time in his busy schedule to spend quality time together. This was written so realistically and maybe that’s why I needed a minute to fully appreciate it for what it is. This story is a beautiful second chance for two people who wanted to conquer the world together but needed some time apart to see that when both parties commit and put in the work, HEA is there for the taking.

Meet Marie Johnston: Marie Johnston is a RITA® Finalist, and a best-selling and award-winning writer of paranormal and contemporary romance – and an avid reader of them both.

Several years ago, when kids started outnumbering adults in the house, Marie Johnston left her job as a public health microbiologist to stay at home. Settling into working part-time and shuttling kids around gave Marie the opportunity to think about what she wanted to be when she grew up. A die-hard science geek, she explored her previously thought to be non-existent creative side after much time spent making snowman crafts and coloring princesses. Having entertained thoughts of writing a book one day then subsequently deciding it would be too hard, she finally put the figurative pen to paper and began to type – and fell in love with story telling.

The Sigma Menace is the first series by Marie with Fever Claim being her first book EVER.  She is humbled by the fact that people are willing to read to her books and looks forward to keeping readers entertained for many years.

Marie lives with her husband and four kids in North Dakota where the summers are gorgeous, the winters are brutal, and spring and fall are luxuries.
