After All the Wreckage by LJ Evans

After All the Wreckage by LJ Evans
A single-dad, small-town, angsty romantic suspense
Release Date: January 24, 2024

ABOUT THE BOOK:

What if the future is already written?

GAGE
When Rory Marlowe Bishop walks out of my past and into my bar, I realize she’s not just a kid anymore. Now she’s hell on wheels and a special kind of temptation. But I can’t afford the distraction, not with the responsibility I’ve inherited. I’m raising my two young siblings who have inherited the unexplainable family “gift” of premonitions that always seem to come true.

It’s safer to keep my distance from the enigmatic private investigator. Rory doesn’t need to be tangled up in my family drama. At least that’s what I tell myself until my brother goes missing…

RORY
Gage Palmer was the hero of my childhood, entering my life when I needed him most. A decade later and I’m instantly reminded of the teenage crush I never quite got over. But neither one of us can act on our growing feelings once he hires me to find his brother. I won’t stop until I help him uncover the truth. Not when I have the chance to reunite a family instead of breaking one.

Even if it means revealing secrets that could destroy us.

Even if it means our future is already written in the wreckage.

After All the Wreckage by L.J. Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Now this was intense, mysterious and nail biting love story. Rory and Gage are thrown into something neither of them can resolve on their own. Gage’s family with their unique abilities have found themselves in a lot of trouble. And Rory entering their lives back again feels like a sign. But solving all the problems turns out to be almost too much for them.

Rory wants to help Gage and his family, especially when she learns just how much her own is intertwined with all the problems they both have. While running around trying to connect all the dots and solve the mystery, they need to decide if in the midst of all the trouble surrounding them, could the feelings that are awakening help them turn things around for them and their loved ones.

This book will hook you from the first page and have you turning the pages anticipating who the bad guys were. I’ll be honest and say I could do without a chapter or two but overall this was read in one sitting and left me feeling happy knowing Rory and Gage found the HEA.

Award winning author, LJ Evans, lives in the Northern California with her husband, child, and the three terrors known as cats. She’s been writing, almost as a compulsion, since she was a little girl and will often pull the car over to write when a song lyric strikes her. A former first grade teacher, she now spends her days reading and writing, as well as binge-watching original shows like Ted Lasso, Wednesday, Veronica Mars, and Stranger Things.

If you ask her the one thing she won’t do, it’s pretty much anything that involves dirt—sports, gardening, or otherwise. But she loves to write about all of those things, and her first published heroine was pretty much involved with dirt on a daily basis, which is exactly why LJ loves fiction novels—the characters can be everything you’re not and still make their way into your heart.

Her novel, CHARMING AND THE CHERRY BLOSSOM, was Writer’s Digest Self-Published E-book Romance of the Year in 2021. Find out more at ljevansbooks.com.
