With the name Holliday, you’d think I’d be all about the Christmas season. Most years, I am, but this one not so much. Between my ex being a real Scrooge-in-the-backside, re-entering the workforce, wrangling my two children, and evading my eight-year-old’s questions about Santa’s existence, I’m struggling to believe in the magic myself.

Enter Nick, my next-door neighbor. My very hot, single, fireman neighbor. He’s full of the seasonal spirit from hanging my outdoor Christmas lights to playing Santa for the local church breakfast.

Funny thing about Nick, he kind of resembles the man in red, in a younger, sexier, silver fox way, complete with snow in his beard but rather tight abs suggesting cookies are not part of his diet when they are a staple of mine.

Anywho, he’s sweet in a rugged sense, and if he were the man making a list and checking it twice, I’d like to be in his naughty column. Because something tells me being a little naughty-ish with Nick from next door might bring me tidings of comfort and restore my joy in this season.

When he discovers I have a seasonal list myself, he’s determined to help me accomplish all the to-dos, only falling in love with my next-door neighbor wasn’t one of them.

His hands cup my jaw. Then he’s kissing me.

The warmth of his lips keeps the combustible flame inside me on a high burn. His tongue crosses the seam of my lips, and that flame becomes an inferno. His mouth is hot and eager like he kissed me beneath the light tunnel when we ran from security. Only, we aren’t being chased tonight. We aren’t hiding in a kiss to disguise ourselves. This is pure passion on the outdoor patio of a city bar underneath a dark December sky.

Nick breaks first. “I’ve been wanting to do that since the first time.”

“Why didn’t you?” I ask, sheepishly glancing up at him.

“I don’t know.” A crease forms between his brows like he really doesn’t have an answer. “Thank goodness I bought you mistletoe.”

His mouth crashes mine again, not needing the plant as an excuse to kiss me. My fingers clutch his shirt while his hands move to my hair, fisting in the long length.

“You have no idea what I want to do to you,” he growls before kissing me harder, his tongue thrusting deeper.

I didn’t think any kiss could top the first one he gave me, but this one has my toes curling in my boots and my fingers tugging his Henley. He isn’t close enough.

“What do you want to do?” I finally mutter as we take a breath.

“Naughty things. Very naughty things.”

Chewing on my lower lip, I glance at him. “Like what?”“Snowball,” he sighs, stealing Brock’s nickname. “You look angelic and innocent, and I’m the damn devil who wants to muddy you up.”

Yes, please.

I’m so happy right now – Holliday and Nick were such a fun couple to fall in love with. The push and pull between Nick and Holliday was fun to read. I kept turning the pages to see when they finally gave in and kiss already. The slow burn was making me crazy.

Holliday has had a rough year. She’s been trying to keep her head above the water and starting something with her hot neighbors was not on her to do list. But those same neighbors had other plans for her and them. He made it his mission to return some holiday cheer back in her life and he would do just about anything to be a part of the new life she began to create. Seeing their relationship blossomed was perfect in every way and I’m so happy for them both getting the HEA.
