This past week was a tremendously good reading week for me and Mafia Kingdom was a big part of it!! 👏👏👏 Well done!
Mafia Kingdom is the dark and beautiful CD Reiss I have come to admire and trust when it comes to stories that have to do with the darkest of society that live in the shadows and greys of life. This woman is ridiculously good at penning these stories. The edgier they are, the more she enraptures and captivates me and sucked me into the world from early on in the story. It is a marble, but I don’t think I’ve ever really had a meh experience with this woman! I did slack with the Manhattan Series & The DiLustro Arrangement trilogy back in 2021 but purely from an angle of “too many books so little time”, and after reading this story, of course they are now front and center for my next gap!!
I’m 100% sure that no words I pen in this review will do Massimo & Delfina’s journey justice. I feel so much for these two and their journey but lack a way to convey any of it. The story was exhilarating, and I was hyperaware of everything happening while I read it. It was electric. The prose in which CD wrote this journey was … sexy without being sexual, full of heart without really being ‘traditional’ heartwarming. I experienced a sense of longing thru the entire story, and I craved every moment. It was a heady feeling reading this journey but I didn’t expect anything less from this woman!
MEET THE AUTHOR:
CD Reiss is a Brooklyn native and has the accent to prove it. She earned a master’s degree in cinematic writing from USC, and though she ultimately failed to have one line of dialog put on film, she stayed in Los Angeles out of spite.
She resides in Hollywood in a house that’s just big enough for her two children, two cats, her long-suffering husband and her massive ego.
