Mike feels like he can’t be tied to one place. But now he’s come back home to help his dad out while he’s in recovery. He’s taken over the police station where Cara, the sexy woman he can’t stop thinking about since they had their one night stand. But he’s determined to leave as soon as his dad is back on his feet so getting involved is a bad idea. But they can’t stay away and soon they’re sharing more than just the bed.
Cara has had her share of disappointments in her life. So she appreciates Mike’s honesty that if they get involved it has an end date. But as time spent together passes and secrets are shared, she can’t help but fall for the troubled man. And she can’t take another heartbreak so she ends things before it gets too much. But Mike has finally found someone who centers him and sees and loves him for who he is and he’s ready to do all it takes to get his baby back.
The angst in this book had me sitting on the edge of my seat hoping and wishing for our MC’s to see just how good they are together. And when they finally realized that, I even shed a happy tear for them. And now the dreaded wait for the next Marsden sibling to get her HEA is on and after reading the first chapter of the next book I’m more than ready for it.
