Worth the Trouble
(Enemy Muse #4)
by Eva Simmons
Genre: Rockstar Romance
Release: July 14, 2023

ABOUT THE BOOK:
To the rest of the world, Rome Moreno is the Riff King. An icon, a Rock God. When I met him, he mistook me for a stripper and asked me to ride his lap. So consider me unimpressed.
I didn’t mean for him to take that as a challenge…
There’s no place for a tattooed hunk of trouble like him in the regimented life of a world-class dance princess. My days run on a carefully timed clock – where I go, when I practice, what I eat. I sold my soul to the devil to pay for my dreams, and I’ve accepted it.
But one taste of forbidden fruit can do the most destructive things. Especially when I discover Rome’s scars go a lot deeper than his tattoo ink.
I honestly believed that if they already owned my existence, it meant I had nothing left to lose.
I was wrong.

Worth the Trouble is book four in the series, Enemy Muse. This is a rock star, opposites attract, forbidden romance. The journey focuses on Rome Moreno and Lili Chen. The plot was well developed and as Simmons always does, she touched on realistic topics; eating disorders, drug abuse, child abuse, and so much more. There was strong character development as well.
Rome has always been the wild one in the band. He used sex and drugs to drown out his demons. He also heavily used obnoxious and vulgar behavior to deflect when people tried to get too close. He never healed or got the help he needed after his childhood trauma. Everything was one big joke or party until he meets Lili. Lili has her own demons and trauma, though hers may not be as traumatic or physical as Rome’s, they still take a metal toll. She exudes strength, control, and confidence, to the outside world, but inside she’s dying a little every day. Until Rome comes and turns her world upside down, in more of a good way, making her feel alive again.
It was satisfying to see Lili bring Rome to his knees and their chemistry did not disappoint. Overall this was an angsty slow burn. I really enjoyed seeing Rome get his happily ever after when he was so resistant and closed off. I also appreciated the bonus epilogue that let’s us see the band and their families in the future. Additionally, I really loved this cover, best one in the series! Simmons mentioned some of these characters will make cameos in her next series; Twisted Roses, so def looking forward to that!
