Before I Tell you is Ashley Elizabeth’s debut book. I thought the author did a pretty good job for her first published book. The plot contained sensitive topics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and mental health issues, particularly anxiety. You could see and feel the character development and growth between Nathan and Natalie and how their different experiences/traumas effected them.
There were a handful of supporting charcaters that appeared enough to lightly pique your interest but not steal the show. I would have liked to know what happened to Brian, and I would have liked to see the Gordon’s and Spencer’s reaction cause I would imagine they eventually found out. I also did feel the ending was rushed. After what happened at Nathan’s mom’s house there would be more trauma to deal with. They seemed a little too resilient with that.
Overall this was an entertaining read and the romantic moments with Nathan are very swoon worthy. Looks like a second book is on the horizon which has sparked my curiosity because I’d like to see how this plays out with the whole Brian sitaution.
