Walk of Shame
Love Unexpectedly #4
By: Lauren Layne
Releasing April 18, 2017
Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the USA Today bestselling author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.
Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.
Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.
I absolutely loved everything about Walk of Shame!! It was perfectly ridiculous in all the fun ways. I had a huge smile on my face from the moment I started reading and it just never quit!
Here are some things that were done really well:
Georgiana was not OTT. She could have been. After all, she comes from money. Lots of money. But she was truly just the girl next door … with a ton of money LOL SOOOOO much fun to read her verbal sparing with Andy 🙂 I may have highlighted half the book!
“Okay, I forgive you for the dinner snub the other night. Now you forgive me for the snub just now.”
Andrew looks at me out of the corner of his eye. “It doesn’t work like that. You don’t get to just exchange one apology for another.”
“You do when they’re the same offense.”
“Yes, but mine was done out of professional necessity, yours was just petty—”
“I ate a banana,” I interrupt.
He opens his mouth, then shuts it, at loss for words. “What?”
“Yesterday. I was hung over, as you probably expected, and I didn’t have a banana, but I ordered one for dinner.”
He’s silent for a full thirty seconds. “You ordered a banana for dinner.”
Andrew closes his eyes for a moment. “You really are ridiculous, Georgiana.”
Their chemistry simmered on low just below the surface for the entire book. It’s one of the things that kept me glued to my kindle. This was a #fridiculous enemies to lovers/frenemies romance story that is very surprising. You just never knew what would come next from these two. And their growing friendship was soooo endearing to watch blossom, or rather read LOL
And let’s not forget BFF, Marley! Everyone need a Marley in their life people, EVERYONE, because when life punches you in the gut, a Marley will come to the rescue properly armed to punch life back!
I open my front door to Marley, who’s holding a box of pizza with two blocks of mozzarella on top.
“Um,” I say.
“Well,” she says, pushing into my apartment, “I ordered a pizza and asked for extra cheese. But then I was like, what if that’s not enough cheese, you know? So I stopped and got some extra, because . . . cheese.”
I nod approvingly. “This is why we’re best friends.”
There’s really nothing to not like about this book and a ton to really love and enjoy. It’s easy and flirty and really sexy and just plain F.U.N.
