I never imagined I would end up a single mother, yet here I am raising three teenage girls on my own. I rarely get time to myself, let alone time to meet someone else. After all those years I’d spent with Shannon, I’m not even sure I want to.
When Nicholas comes along, passion hits me like a freight train. He consumes me in the most wonderful way and I don’t ever want it to end.
Then I find out who he really is and everything changes. We can’t happen. I can’t be with him, no matter how deep he buried himself inside my pants, my life or my heart.
I’ve wanted Alex for as long as I can remember. Seeing her across the bar that night, I knew our time had come. I had to have her. I wasted no time taking exactly what I wanted, getting her underneath me that very night.
For a while, things are perfect. For once, I’m truly and completely happy. Being with Alex is the most amazing thing to ever happen to me during my entire miserable existence.
Then she finds out who I am and everything changes. She becomes afraid and refuses to continue things with me … with us. But what Alex doesn’t get is, she’s everything I’ve ever wanted since I was old enough to see just how sexy a woman is.
Unbroken Fates started out very strong. The prologue, Shannon’s Silence, a short story previously published in an anthology, was amazing.
From there, while I enjoyed the main characters, Alexandria and Nicholas, the story felt very rushed and jumpy. The lack of serious discussion, that was needed, caused me to feel a disconnect from what I was reading. Events that needed addressing, felt unresolved at the end.
I really did enjoy the very steamy love scenes. Alexandria discovering new wants and needs with Nicholas was fascinating and kept my attention whole heartedly. Nicholas, while a bit over the top at points, was a hot, classic alpha.
