Save My Heart by Rhonda James

Title: Save My Heart
Series: Sticks & Hearts #3 (Standalone)
Author: Rhonda James
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: March 16, 2017

I’ve spent my entire life protecting something.

The net.

My teammates.

My sister.

I’ve played hockey my entire life. Had many girlfriends. Slept with more women than I care to mention. Been in love twice.

While one woman tried to control me by changing me into someone I no longer recognized, the other loved me not for who I could be, but for who I already was.

She was my high school sweetheart but, like a fool, I walked away and let someone else take my place.

Now she’s back and even more beautiful than I remembered. Once upon a time she trusted me with her heart and I broke it. This time, I’ll do whatever it takes to win her back.

I was the first boy she ever kissed. After all these years, I want to be the only man she kisses for the rest of her life.

Save My Heart by Rhonda James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An emotional second chance romance, Save My Heart is the third book of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I have not yet read the previous books, but am excited to check them out. This book gave me all the feels.

Skylar and Scott have a chance meeting, four years after a devastating break up. Skylar is cautious and self protecting. Scott is an evolving jerk. I had trouble with Scott in the beginning, but the way his character grows throughout the story, you can’t help but develop a soft spot for him.

I really enjoyed Save My Heart. The friendships, the chemistry, the humor, the relationships; it all made for a very well-rounded, fun story. The angst and light moments are perfectly weaved together and while I felt that the dialogue was a bit immature at times, Skylar and Scott finding their way back to each other makes it so you can’t help but want more.
