Holden Payne has it all . . . or so he thinks. As heir to the founder of the Community—an organization that finds, protects, and manages psychics—he’s rich, powerful, and treated like royalty. But after a series of disappearances and murders rock the Community, he’s branded the fall guy for the scandal and saddled with a babysitter.
Sixtus Rossi is a broad-shouldered, tattooed lumbersexual with a man-bun and a steely gaze. He’s also an Invulnerable—supposedly impervious to both psychic abilities and Holden’s charms. It’s a claim Holden takes as a challenge. Especially if sleeping with Six may help him learn whether the Community had more to do with the disappearances than they claimed.
As Holden uncovers the truth, he also finds himself getting in deep with the man sent to watch him. His plan to seduce Six for information leads to a connection so intense that some of Six’s shields come crashing down. And with that comes a frightening realization: Holden has to either stand by the Community that has given him everything, or abandon his old life to protect the people he loves.
I am ridiculously happy to report that The Community continues to be amazeballs! As I mentioned in my review of Insight, I very very very very rarely read anything paranormal. I just cannot get into a story that is outside the realm of my possibilities. This world that Santino Hassell has created is not craycray paranormal. It is full of people with abilities that are within the realm of possibility (imo) so it intrigues me. It captivates me. And it’s just fucking exciting to read!
I’m gonna tell you something that you REALLY need to pay attention to … These books are not standalone books!. There is an arc story-line that travels thru these books about The Community. The different characters in The Community and their romantic entanglements are not the focus or what drives this series. The story of The Community is what drives this series and the individual books. Yes, there are romantic elements to each book, but that is not the focal point of the series. SOOOOOOOO, if you don’t start with Insight, I have no idea how you would understand Oversight!
If you’ve read the Five Boroughs series at all, Holden Payne may remind you a little of Caleb. He did to me. Why? Holden was a big part of the first book and he was painted as an arrogant asshole. But trust me when I say … Holden is far from that. The same thing happened to Caleb in FB for me. He was introduced as the asshole but when his story came around and we got to see his whole persona, everything changed.
Holden and Sixtus could not have been a better pair. I loved every minute of their interactions. It was a hat love situation that went from somewhat hostile into a little tense and then sooooooo much more. Holden couldn’t read Sixtus, and that isn’t something he;s used to dealing with. So he had to rely on pure feeling. I REALLY REALLY loved them you guys … seriously!
As more and more is unfolded about The Community and The Farm, I am more and more intrigued and anxious about this world Santino has created. It’s exceptional. I’m very rarely so attached to a world an author creates … I’m more of a people attacher. But this is just captivating and intense and suspenseful and just riveting.

He half-expected to be shoved away and for a fist to crash into his face right before the taste of iron bloomed in his mouth, but it didn’t happen. The hands gripping him closed down harder, grinding bone and muscle, but that was the only way Six reacted. He was frozen as Holden stroked his tongue gently and coaxed it into a response before sucking it entirely into his mouth.
A groan muffled against him, low and quickly aborted, but Holden heard it. And he felt the way Six leaned into him. It was barely a response, but it encouraged Holden to pin Six against the door and dive into a hungry kiss. Slicking tongues, frantically moving lips, and a full body press that made it quite clear that Six was into this. His dick was fully rocked up in a way that could not be explained by anything other than arousal for Holden.
It was right about the time triumph usually exploded in Holden’s chest with invisible banners and balloons celebrating a conquest, but this time he felt apprehension. He didn’t want to end this kiss. He wanted Six to keep exploring the inside of his mouth with a delightfully frantic lack of finesse, and he wanted a genuine fucking smile once they were done. But that wasn’t in the cards. That wasn’t what this was about.
About The Community Series
What lies beneath the surface of the world you thought you knew?
Secrets and lies have twisted an underground community founded by psychics escaping persecution. Blackmail, sex, and social climbing in the name of power has created an irreparable rift.
In the eyes of the founders, there are two sides: loyalists and everyone else. Surely no one would emerge from their tightly woven webs. And they certainly wouldn’t sow the seeds of rebellion within the heart of the Community’s only queer night club.
Now an outcast, a scion, and a runaway are leading a revolution to save not only the men they love, but the entire Community.
Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family but grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into a grumpy introvert and unlikely romance author with an affinity for baseball caps. His novels are heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, and his desire to write relationships fueled by intensity and passion.
He’s been a finalist in both the Bisexual Book Awards and the EPIC Awards, and was nominated for a prestigious RITA award in 2017. His work has been featured in BuzzFeed, Huffington Post, Washington Post, RT Magazine, and Cosmopolitan Magazine.
