He walked into school on his first day and didn’t care what the other students thought of him.

Dark. Broody. Dangerous.

He didn’t care where I cared too much.
Then the rumors started.
He failed his senior year at his previous school. His brother committed suicide. It’s his fault.

And for one blessed week, I wasn’t the topic of discussion.

You see, I’m the daughter of a socialite who has no soul. I’m the one paying for her sins. They never let me forget where I come from, and she never stops telling me what a failure I am.

But then Colton Lawson looks at me, and unlike the other student’s, his dark gaze seems to see through the lies spun around me.

He starts appearing out of nowhere, fighting my battles for me only to stalk away, making me feel like I’m nothing but a nuisance.

My name is Brie Weinstock, and this is my story of how a boy walked into my hell and fought for me, even though I never expected him to.

The question is, am I strong enough to repay the favor?

This is a high school romance that deals with sensitive subjects. Adult readers only.

There are no words to describe the chaos inside of me. It feels like a tornado just swept through me, only leaving devastation and death behind. The death of the last of my self-esteem.

Colton holds me for so long that by the time he pulls back, it’s like the sun is shining over what’s left of the destruction. You can see every piece of debris scattered over an unrecognizable life.

And yet, there’s a smile playing around Colton’s lips, and as he stares at me, he whispers, “Thank you.”

I frown because I don’t understand why he’d say that.

“Thank you for letting me help you.” His voice is hoarse with emotion, and it makes the lump in my throat swell.

He opens the door and climbs out of the truck, so I do the same. I grab one bag while Colton gets the other, and then I turn to look at the Lawsons’ house.

Will this really be home from now on?

Can anywhere feel like home when I’m an outcast?

Not My Hero is standalone book from the Black Mountain Academy series by Multiple Authors. This is my first time reading a book by author Michelle Heard and wow, what an incredible journey. This story focuses on Colton and Brie.

Their book really tugged on the heart strings, so expect to feel their heartache. It was emotional and had a lot of realistic aspects, which makes it even more heart breaking to think that there are people in this world who face these same issues in real life that these two did.

Brie has low self esteem, loads of anxiety, has trust issues and lives in constant fear. She has never known what it is to be loved and cared for. Never experienced true friendship or any type of affection, until she meets Colton.

Colton is suffering in his own personal hell. His life is hanging by a thread after traumatic events that occurred within his family. He is holding onto a lot of anger along with resentment and has been living on autopilot, until he meets Brie.

These two are kindered spirits. They were destined to meet and saved each other. Together they make a positive difference in each other’s lives, help each other heal, and have a future to look forward to. All the events and trauma they faced was worth it to find each other and the peace they’ve built together.
