“Single and ready to mingle……”
Those are the words above every picture of almost every female that strikes my interest on this dating app my son talked me into getting. After being a single dad for seventeen years, I’m ready to spread my wings, just not with most of the co-eds who keep hitting on me and calling me daddy.
Now that Caleb’s in his Senior year of high school, I feel like I can let go of the iron-clad control I’ve had on myself without his Mom in our lives. I’ve enjoyed raising him, love the relationship we have, and while he went off the rails for a bit last year, we’re closer than we’ve ever been. He’s got a full ride to the University of Alabama, and I’ve settled into my spot with the Moonshine Task Force.
But my son doesn’t warm my bed, he isn’t someone I can share my dreams with, and he’s not the person I want to grow old with by my side. I’m not sure who that is yet, but the smokin’ hot lady going by the name BeachBum83 definitely has every single bit of my interest.
“Looking for a good time, maybe more…..”
Those were the lamest words I ever typed in my life, but it was the best I had for the dating app my friend, Violet talked me into joining. I didn’t have any high hopes for myself. As a High School English teacher, I’m sick of pervy Dad’s hitting on me when they come in to discuss their child’s lack of motivation to read the classics and apply themselves.
Until the day Mason Harrison walks into my classroom. I had no idea Caleb’s Dad was the man I met off that dating app who showed me how flexible I really am in the back of his Jeep. Within minutes of the parent/teacher conference he proved the sparks weren’t one-time only when we christened my desk.
Mason and Caleb? They touch a part of my heart that no one’s ever touched before, and when a threat from the past shows up, I prove just how tough I really am.

I love this series, and have been curious about Mason from the start. Menace is a standalone within the Moonshine Task Force series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I really enjoyed reading each of the books in order to better understand each of the characters.
Mason is a hot single dad to a teenage boy who is ready to spread his wings. Mason and his son, Caleb, have a very close relationship. I really enjoyed watching Caleb grow up throughout the series, and his father’s story makes me even more intrigued about what will be coming up for him. When Mason meets Karina on a dating app, the two have a very enjoyable night together and are thrust together once again when its time for Mason to meet Caleb’s teacher. From the first time they meet, there is chemistry that just made me smile. I loved Karina, she’s strong, independent, and a perfect fit for the family Mason and Caleb created.
Overall, I loved Menace. The characters are always fun to revisit, and getting to know Mason better was so much fun. I was entranced by the novel, reading it in one sitting. It was suspenseful and romantic. The story was exciting and impossible to put down.
»I’m just a guy, totally in love with a woman, who’s waited more years than most to start that part of his life. I’ve never felt like this for anyone else, knowing deep down that I’ll never feel like this for anyone ever again. Why wait, Rina? Why wait when I know I’m never going to love anyone else as much as i love you.«
Talk about swoon. Mason aka Menace is one hot single dad let me tell you. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series but I do need to rectify that ASAP. I loved everything about this story. I love the fact that he put his life on hold in order to raise his son. I loved how Karina is tough woman who isn’t, even after being hurt in the past closed off to the possibility of new love. Their chemistry was awesome. I really loved how much Caleb and Karina got along. And when the baby sister was placed in Caleb’s arms and he made his promise to her? Save to say you’re going to need a few tissues at hand.
My only problem with this story is her nickname for him: Big guy…I don’t know I just didn’t like it but it was sure better than calling him »daddy« like women before Karin tried to call him.
Easy 4* from me – bring on Caleb; I’m more than ready to see this »boy« getting his HEA
