I mean, I’m allowed to give him a hard time about it, but when some creep decides to cross the line and go after him, they’re gonna have to answer to me.

Going undercover has never been an issue in the past, so I don’t see why there’d be a problem now. Xander and I have known each other for years, so this should be a breeze. Except suddenly my stomach’s flipping when he looks my way, and my body comes alive whenever he brushes by me. I know I’m good at my job and playing a character and all, but this is getting out of hand.

I can’t be sure that either of us are playing anymore.

Unlike most couples I’ve read in the past that Ella has created, Xander & Sean took me a minute to get connected to. I don’t know why to be honest, but I think it’s because, for obvious reasons, the slow burn of it all just grated on my last nerve. I know I know, they can’t just go at each other like two savage alpha males because … (read the book lol). So I get the why, but I don’t have to like it LOL

So the story hasn’t really taken off much. It’s just beginning so it’s really hard to tell you much of anything except that it’s exciting and fun. It’s one big set up really. I think the real journey between Xander and Sean will begin in the next book, Breaking News, or at least I hope so. Which brings me to my one negative point in this whole thing: I’m over the duet/trilogy of it all. I know that’s one of Ella’s signatures but I’m over it. I’m over waiting for stories for months at a time. I think this book in particular was my last straw, for lack of a better term, because not enough happens to justify it even being an installment. It reads like half a book. Yes, everything I read is exciting and fun, but I’m pretty sure whatever comes from the next book could have been incorporated in this book and maybe made Xander & Sean a duet at least. Anywho, I’ll be playing close attention to this trilogy to see about this because it might mean I move forward with this author’s work after she has finished a full set in the future *shrug*
