They’re dangerous men. Absolute enemies. And totally hot for each other.

Will has never met anyone like Kit. He’s arrogant. Gorgeous. Lethal.

The most expensive bodyguard money can buy. And Will can’t seem to resist him.

A simple command in Kit’s cut-glass accent makes Will want things he’s never wanted, do things he’s never done. Their red-hot chemistry is off the charts.

Just one problem: Will has vowed to kill the billionaire that Kit is hell-bent on protecting.

And Kit has secrets, too—his own reasons for sacrificing his soul, piece by painful piece, to keep one of the worst men on earth alive.

This is a stand-alone contemporary M/M romance.

Enemies like You by Joanna Chambers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was hooked on Kit and Will after reading the free prologue, Enemies with Benefits (which turned out to be chapters 1-8 of this book, Enemies Like You), which set up an enthralling, sexy spy thriller / enemies-to-lovers story. Enemies to lovers is a pretty new trope for me, but Kit and Will have me wanting to read more and more of it.

This book was action-packed between the spy action and the sexy times action, but what really got me was the complexity of the characters. I’m only familiar with Joanna Chambers, one part of this writing duo. Her thorough characterization is one of my favorite things about her books, and that is super evident here. I really felt as if I knew both Kit and Will. Will especially coming to terms with what his attraction to Kit means about him and how it changes the things he has always thought about himself. I really liked the personal growth of both MCs, much more so than the thriller (which I pretty much called about a quarter of the way in). Also, this book is *hot.* Like, super hot. But it’s not excessive and it’s not distracting – the steamy scenes between Kit and Will each have a purpose and drive the plot forward. It’s very well done.

What kept this from being a five-star read for me was the somewhat underdeveloped thriller aspect of the book and the abrupt ending. IMO, the entire book was a steady build up until the last two chapters, then it was a mad dash to wrap up a bunch of stuff, then another abrupt jump to the epilogue. Neither of these were gigantic drawbacks, but they did alter my overall enjoyment of the book.

All in all, I really liked the quality of the writing and the story that this writing duo put out. I hope we get to read more from them in the future!

They’re dangerous men. Absolute enemies. And totally hot for each other.

Two years ago, the men in Will’s unit were killed in an ambush because they were betrayed. Now he has a chance to go after the corrupt billionaire who sold them out.

One problem: the billionaire’s bodyguard. Nobody knows what he looks like; they only know him by the trail of bodies he leaves behind.

Will their passion destroy them both?

Kit’s a hardened assassin who’ll do what it takes to protect his boss. But when Will moves on the billionaire at an elite party, things with Will and Kit take an unexpected—sexy—twist.

Now Kit has to convince Will to walk away–from his quest for justice, and from the red-hot passion that keeps resurfacing at the most inopportune times.

About the Authors:

Joanna Chambers always wanted to write. In between studying, finding a proper grown up job, getting married and having kids, she spent many hours staring at blank sheets of paper and chewing pens. That changed when she rediscovered her love of romance and found her muse. Joanna’s muse likes red wine, coffee and won’t let Joanna clean the house or watch television.
