Confessions of a Carpool Captive by Dawn L. Chiletz

Title: Confessions of a Carpool Captive
Author: Dawn L. Chiletz
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: March 24, 2017
My name is Liz Foley. I love my accounting job because I’d rather deal with numbers than talk to people.

My best traits:

I have (RBF) Resting Bitch Face.
I give snarky come-backs.
I have no friends.

My worst traits:

I speak in run-on sentences when I get nervous.
I’m attracted to assholes.
I’m broke.

Enter Finnigan Walsh – the new guy at work.

His best traits:

He’s kind of hot, I suppose.
He has a working car.
He sings to me and brings me coffee.
Nothing ever gets to him, even when I add more people to our carpool.

His worst traits:

See above

I don’t like him. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
After all, it’s not about how fast you get there. It’s the journey. Right?
Damn this carpool.

You’d better buckle up.

Confessions of a Carpool Captive by Dawn L. Chiletz
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Confessions of a Carpool Captive starts out with a laugh, and they keep coming throughout the entire book! I was hooked from the first page, the characters are relatable, the friendships are real. I found myself getting involved with the characters, and don’t want to put it down at all.

Elizabeth is hilariously awkward. She doesn’t do small talk. She’s a free spirit, who doesn’t think before talking, which was refreshing to read. She catches the eye of a co-worker, Finn, and through no fault of her own, ends up relying on Finn to get her to work and home everyday.

Finn is patient, kind, understanding, just a general good guy. He understands Elizabeth, is a bit mysterious, and a quick thinker. The chemistry between the two is obvious. The two balance each other well.

This book is a slow burning, laugh out loud funny, and a very different spin of a friends to lovers novel. Recommended for the reader looking for a swift moving story, unique friendships, and a well rounded romantic comedy.
