Blog Review Tour: Hawke (Cold Fury, Book #5) by Sawyer Bennett

Title: Hawke (Cold Fury, Book #5)
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: March 15, 2016

The New York Times bestselling hockey series featuring the Carolina Cold Fury continues as the team’s most notorious party animal gets blindsided by the one that got away.

Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn’t he? He’s worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She’s almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later—except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut.

Vale Campbell isn’t the same girl she was at twenty. As crazy as she was about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking were starting to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that would never happen with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do—until now. Because she’s still crazy about Hawke. And if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.

Hawke (Cold Fury Hockey, #5)Hawke by Sawyer Bennett

The Cold Fury Hockey series has been one of my favorite sport themed romance series since the beginning and Hawke added to my ridiculous love for not only the series, but Sawyer Bennett as well.
Is there anything that Sawyer cannot write and write well? Why no, there is not! LOL The woman can turn any story into gold. And she has proven that time and time again! She is one of the few authors that I can pick up any book in any of her series at any point and enjoy it no matter where it falls in that series. She makes sure that her series have a common theme, but you’re never lost if you haven’t read a previous book. #perfection
Hawke Therrien and Vale Campbell have history. A history that was never really resolved. Once upon a time, Hawke and Vale were in love. One day, Vale decided to up and leave. That’s right … no reason, no explanation, nothing. And here we are today, many years later, face to face again … do they get a HEA this time?

There are a lot of emotions being played out in this story. There are sweet moments as much as frustrating moments, gut-wrenching moments mixed with heart-warmth and scorching hot moments that might make your girlie parts sing 🙂 I loved how we were transported back in time in periods of remembrance to get a clearer picture of what was really going on in Vale’s head back in the day. It added to the sweetness of the present. There might be a time or two were the story seems to drag a bit, but it never takes away from the overall experience you get out a Sawyer Bennett book. And lets not forget we get to revisit past leads in the series in little snippets here and there 🙂
